1) It's just awesome that a 12:55/26:59 american runner hasn't even won a single US title. Not awesome for him, but awesome for what it means abou the depth of US running. And what makes it more awesome, is that at his specialty there is not one or two guys who could keep him from doing it, but a handful.
2) The second part of your statement is certainly not a consensus shared by everyone on here. There is an element on here that always believe the guy with the current hot streak is guaranteed to rule the roost for eternity, so that thought is worth exposing and discussing.
Two replies:
1) He wasn't a 12:55/26:59 runner until what, two months ago? Has it even been that long? Before his pr was something like ~13:10 and he had never run a 10k. There was serious talk of him moving to the steeple because the overwhelming consensus was that he was outmatched at 5k. 10k wasn't even on ANYONE'S radar. Chris Solinsky wasn't a sub-13/sub-27 guy when he was busy not winning championships - he was a 13:10-13:20 guy at the time. He's a totally different runner now, and I don't mean any implications towards PED usage when I say that. If he goes 5 more years without winning something then it will be fair to say that he's a 12:5x/26:5x guy who has yet to win, but right now the only fair way to look at it is that before this year he was a 13:1x guy who failed to win (and was never really expected to), and now he's a 12:5x guy who hasn't had a chance to win yet. The fact that you're incapable of making that distinction is disturbing.
2) Find me someone on here who believes that Chris Solinsky is literally guaranteed to win a championship. You'll find alot of people who find it highly likely, but no one who thinks it's literally a 100% lock. What you're arguing is neither interesting, nor is it intelligent. You're just saying "He's good but hey, he still might not win, because there's these other guys that are good too" which is just so obvious that there's nothing interesting about it. NO ONE is guaranteed a championship ever. To revive a phrase from elementary school, "No shit, Sherlock". You're just making the most basic claim that's so obviously true and acting like it's some profound insight. If you want to put out a thought-provoking idea instead of this drivel let us know which of those runners you think have a good chance of winning more US championships than Solinsky by 2020.
