Looks like rather Oregon was hoping/planning Greer would qualify by place or more likely time. After the fast first heat,Greer finished third in the second heat- but did not qualify on time. Lananna was not pleased.

Wow, I hadn't even had thought of that. That's very true.

Maybe his first heat guy thought that was the best way for him to qualify for the final.

Does he want the guy to lay down and not try to advance?

I'm sure Vin did, and while Thompson is not a kicker, he is also not a rabbit. His best strategy would have been to go hard from 400-500 out, not 800 out.

And not knowing the guy, he looks like a hard head. A coaches nightmare.

I'll take Vins strategy at getting athletes qualified over TT's. Travis had a chance with a 400-500 drive, not an 800 drive.

what a lot of people don't know...

the 800s and 4x400s were posted then reseeded to fit international rules instead of the regular USATF seeding rules. Curious that the new seedings placed Wheating in a fairly easy heat and Thompson in Andrews heat...
