Why do peopl keep sayin wanjiru is better then geb. Times speak for themselves. If he was better im sure he would have went out and broke the WR already. He hasnt, so until then he hasnt got a leg to stand on, even with his sore knee.

He had an injury, that's it. At the moment Geb is better, but wanjiru is still an amazing runner and could break the world record one day. He isn't the only one, but he is a class act. You are just an idiot!

It's totally relevant. You are further away from Wanjiru than wanjiru is from geb. He had a crap race, for whatever reason, and that happens to marathon runners. Nothing he could have done to prevent it.

Fact is, you came on making the comparison between sammy and geb. It may have been done before, but why give it credence? Your right, Gebs career has been far better, but it has also been a lot lot longer. Sammy will not dominate the track like geb, but he is still one of the outright favourites to win any marathon he starts. As is geb. I think I read somewhere wanjiru is to run Berlin. That would be awesome, and I hope him and geb have a good race, but even if sammy wins he still has lots to do before he equals him.

That said, your belittling a runner who has more talent and dedication than you will ever have.

Either way, you/me/most of lets run are a couch/internet potatoes. They race, they break records, they quit. You just run badly almost all the time. Up your pace, or get over it.

p.s. Maybe your problem's that you don't understand your body enough to know when to push or quit.

The fact that one of the greatest runners of all time has asthma bad enough that he has to pull out of races or doesn't race places because of it has always bugged me because it makes our sport seem like a giant f***ing joke populated by inferior human specimens not in the greatest health.

Or maybe Geb just can't handle losing, ever consider that? My post wasn't so much about injuries, what is acceptable excuse and what isn't, my post was just in support of those who finish out races. And in almost all cases, these guys can finish out the race, they just don't want to look bad. If there really was an injury problem, then I'm sure then they knew about it beforehand, during that same time they all talk about breaking the world record, which kind of makes me doubt that there was anything serious in the first place.

Just look around and see how many truly elites DNF. If it was really that bad, then just pull out like Lel did before hand. By the way, I am a big fan of Wanjiru, Geb, etc... I like them all, I just wish these guys wouldn't talk so much and just put out.
