Haha I got stopped by security when I was trying to get on to the infield. I told them my coach was out there and I needed to talk to him about my race so they let me through after a bit of fuss. He wasnt out there and I wasnt racing for 4 more hours. I just wanted a closer look at the action.

The assistant director was on the infield at that time, witnessed the incident, and settled the issue. They were able to laugh it off afterward, after he (the assistant director) convinced CSC not to throw Coach Vigilante out because he had to be in the championship picture. Just the ongoing CSC vs. the Penn Relays mess . . .
I saw a lot of folks getting stood up by security, and as far as I could tell, they all were trying to go or sit where they didn't belong. I'm certain Vig had an opportunity to get the credentials he needed to get where he needed to be. Does a coach need to be on the field when his team wins? Nope. It is their moment and I'm sure they can handle it alone.
I really enjoyed the meet, and I had no trouble with security. I did have trouble with any number of fans and competitors that wanted to sit in my seat.
Buy a ticket and sit where it says to sit. If you're a competitor, sit where they tell you to sit. If you're a coach, get your credintials in order ahead of time.[/quote]

So you wanted on the field so you could see a small portion of the track (plus get in the way of people warming up) rather than see the complete track from the stands? <-- This is what is wrong with today's athlete. They could careless about the actual sport, they just want to try and be cool.

I am a coach who happened to be over taking some pics of the 4x8 and when it was over I was the closest person Vig's running across the track and being attacked by the security guy who took him from the inside of the track all the way across as if he were some security threat and doing so with great force and menace and bad attitude. I started videoing it so when Vig's is ready to file a lawsuit I am ready with the evidence. Doubt he will actually take it that far but I am ready if he is.
I was also standing just a few feet away when Vig's and meet director Dave Johnson had a good laugh about it with Vig's apologizing while DJ did the same.
I also witnessed first hand from a few feet away a dejected Vinny giving a long and scornful look to assistant Andy Powell after Wheating was caught at the line. Clearly shocked each. It did seem strange some college coaches were in the infield the entire day with athletes.
What a frickin' idiot of a coach you must be. What is Vig going to sue for? Being ejected for not having his credentials? If the jackass wants to "storm" the field, he at least ought to learn how to get his credentials.
Please describe a "long and scornful" look. And please describe "Clearly shocked". Are you possibly just an opinionated joke for a coach?

It was "long" in that I timed it as lasting 5.87 seconds. Any facial expression lasting in excess of 5.00 seconds qualifies as "long".
And it was clearly "scornful". There was an uneven tilt to the eyebrows, with his left eyebrow 1.75 inches higher than his right. And to cap it off his forehead was clearly furrowed.

Me too! I'd like to see the video to observe and learn from the "long, scornful and shocked" look. As an instructor of theatrical science here at Bofunk U. this video could be a valuable learning tool for our students.
I don't think it is a stretch to say that most of our students can perfect the 5.87 second "long" asect, though I am unconvinced that it adds much to the impact of scornful and/or shocked.
I was actually standing next to coach and I think his assistant (under the clock) during the race. What actually happened was - during the bell lap - Coach Vigilante was standing up on the fence (well 1/2 way up) and as Andrews, Wheating and the other runner passed, it was great to hear both coaches saying "He's got him!" "Wait, can he get him?" "He's movin!" "Here he comes!" - anyway As they came off the last turn (maybe about 50m to go) Coach Vigilante got up on the top of the fence (how he balanced I have NO idea) and when Andrews crossed the line he jumped off onto the track (screaming and flailing his arms in Victory) - I guess he could have looked like he was going to hurt someone, although we could assume he was happy!
What he didnt see, is there was a security guard on our side of the fence already heading toward him from the paddock area. He yelled to a guard on the field who then - damn near tackled him (it was a bit excessive)but funny (after I saw that he wasnt going to get hurt.
Anyway - great race, great finish - and I'm glad two jersy guys had a great Day @ Penn - (Morristown and Manalapan)

Overcome by emotional immaturity and should be kept off the infield unless he can control himself. Actually all coaches should be bounced off the infield , no reason what-so-ever to be there. This meet is a monster to manage , eliminate the opportunities for a major screw up.
