The documentary on Catherine Ndereba is called WinCatherine: The Story of Wincatherine Nyambura Ndereba. It is the inspirational story of a Kenyan woman who despite being born into extreme poverty, facing gender biases and other obstacles, put her faith in God and followed her dream of becoming a world champion runner, lifting her family out of poverty and finally shedding her childhood nickname of Crazy Catherine as the world has come to know her as Catherine the Great.
I am the producer/director and while we have not stopped production, we are actively seeking funding; we need funds to cover our shoot planned next month to follow Catherine as she returns to the Boston Marathon after a five year absense; (she returns as the only woman to have won 4 Boston Marathon titles.)We also need funds to film the remaining interviews and get the film into post production! I have personally been so inspired by Catherine and I see her inspire children, men and women around the world! The film gives viewers a rare look inside Catherine's personal life and what contributes to her success. In addition, we've interviewed many inspiring female runners(Deena Kastor, Kathrine Switzer, Constantina Dita, Naoko Takahashi just to name a few)since the trailer was shot as well as up and coming runners who have been inspired by Catherine.
You can view the fundraising trailer for the film at
and PLEASE consider a tax deductible contribution (no amount is too small)to help get this film completed! I know you will all be inspired by this film once it is finished so please spread the word and ask your friends to help.
