Anyone know if Webb is racing this upcoming season?

Exactly the point, people on here talk about what they saw and put all this pressure on him based off of past performances. I can't even blame him for not coming out last year and just saying 'hey, i'm hurt, I think I'll take time to recover, maybe race and see if I can do a summer season', just because people expect nothing but the best.

Look at Craig Mottram. Obviously not a lot of Americans are gonna fret over his decline in the distance scene the past couple years, but he was in a similar situation. Had a nagging injury in an Olympic year so he raced regardless, wasn't in his usual top form, and then went away for a while. Now he's over his injury, building back slowly but surely, and I'm pretty sure his Ekiden 5k leg some weeks ago was a positive result in that sense.

And in the end, it doesn't matter what anyone says besides Webb and Salazar, he's going to do what's best for him. Achilles injuries are tolerable, but Webb's still young enough that a year to resurge and change his training, while managing the little things every day to overcome his injury and prevent further ones, can make a world of difference in the future when it counts. In London.

so does anyone know if he's opening the season at drake?

And just look at him - watch the video of his AR mile. He was an animal - ferocious. Then watch one of his races in 2009. He never fought - he just tucked in the middle. He may have been hurt in all of 2009, but he had no fire.

Gonna have to disagree with you here- I'm betting his being tentative last year had nothing to do with "fire" or "motivation," and instead had everything to do with fitness and confidence. Racing at an elite level is pretty simple- you've gotta stay healthy enough to train well, and your confidence builds on the strength of your training. If you're going into races knowing that your training has been lacking, you are not going to be "ferocious."

Webb is far from done. He made the right move by leaving VA and getting out to Nike central, which has recently rejuvenated a number of careers that were in far worse shape than Alan's.

Webb will be back. He has not lost his fire to compete and once healthy again he and AlSal will be going after the mile WR. I think after Al reviewed Webb's training logs from 06-07 he was just salavating about getting this guy healthy and his head in it again.

Remember Webb being interviewed after his 07 AR in the mile and about shaving a second a year off of his time? Guess when 4 years after 07 is. 2011. WR attempts will abound for Mr. Webb and if healthy he will run 3:42.

Webb had achilles surgery 3 months ago. He's just getting back to running (not training) regularly.

When Spivey was 27 he got a bronze medal at the WC's and was ranked 5th in the world. Spivey got more out of his 3:49 mile than Webb did with his 3:46 mile. Spivey even broke 3:50 when he was 30.

Want me to dash over to his house on NW Westover, knock on the door, wait for him to break the hermetically sealed front door and ask him?

As much as we would all love to see Webb run, this is the perfect time to focus on training and getting healthy. Btw, talent does not just go away.

Yeah, I couldn't tell if that would play right when I posted it. I was actually refering to washing out pigment wise with the rainy weather in the NW and all. I'm a big Webb fan, so I hope the move works out.
