I know other posts have already called you out on this, but it is amazing to me that for as often as you post and as much as you act like you know a lot about track & field, that you wouldn't know the basic rule of how relay splits are timed.

You "gene doping" proponents are watching too much tv and too many movies. We are so far from any form of genetic manipulation that could lead to performance boosts, that it is laughable at this point. Very few gene therapies have come to fruition for trials in humans, and many of those have proven to be on mildly successful and bring the very reall possibility of widespread autoimmune response. "Gene doping" is still very far away.

I for one sincerely hope he is not doping. I think what we are witnessing here is a one of a kind freak of nature, if you will. The man is just built to run fast. He's the 100 and 200 WR holder, which many think of as being in a different realm from a 200/400 guy like Michael Johnson, but Bolt has shown he knows how to run 400s, and I think his height actually helps him in the 400 rather than hurts. That long stride has to count for something.

Is there any word on whether or not he'll run more 400s this year?

He should go after the 300 WR for fun.

it would be amazing to see one runner hold the 100, 150, 200, 300 and 400 WR's at the same time!

Correction... on Wikipedia information. 42.94 is the time 'offically' recorded relay split time...(though relay splits are somewhat questionable).If memory serves me correct it was the cover story Track and Field News Nov 1993..!!

It's a pity we have athletes 'running' to Wikipedia for results/information.

that all depends on who takes the split different people do different ones. All we can hope is that somebody back then took the split the right way.

I always thought Johnson's split was 42.94, also, not 42.91.

The WC splits for the 3rd and 4th legs are very legitimate since they are measured by electronic timing as the runner with the baton crosses the line.

The split is not where the exchange is made. The split is not really where the baton crosses the line.

The split is here the torso of the person carrying the baton crosses the line.

I don't know if they can get an official split of the first two legs since the exchange is made on a stagger and they would need a camera directed at the appropriate line for each and every lane.
