Tampa Tribune reports Xavier Carter arrested in Tampa for carrying a concealed weapon, marijuana, traffic ticket.

Thank you never understood why people make such comments about thugs and blacks and what not. It is just true stated facts, blacks commit more crimes then whites. Along with that blacks are strictly criticized for their actions too, compared to whites. It's a lose lose.

All right, so you know some statistics, some "true stated facts." My question for you is: so what? You've issued two sweeping generalities, that blacks commit more crimes and that blacks face harsher judgment for committing crimes. Ignoring for the moment your lack of justification of these statements, I think that these generalities have almost nothing to do with Xavier Carter, and that carelessly throwing around statements like "blacks commit more crimes" only serves so reinforce racial stereotypes.

Why do I say this? Because Xavier Carter is not just "a black person." He's a particularly gifted, privileged athlete. I'd probably be more correct in saying "poor, unemployed, and homeless people commit more crimes" than "black people commit more crimes," and Xavier Carter is none of these (I hope).

While you may be quoting true statements, think about whether the are also relevant, because careless generalizations can be counterproductive and even harmful.

The X-man is innocent until proven guilty. We have to 1st see the evidence. Did the cop plant the evidence or lie about it ? How many black men has the cop beaten, shot in the back, railroaded, assassinated, etc. in his career. Is the cop a member of the KKK, Nazi Party, Israeli Defense Forces, Hamas, etc. ? Let the American system do it's job and find the truth.

For those talking about race and crime I found this and find that at least in soccer white guys are committing tons of crime that qualify as thuggery. Maybe there's a difference between the typical Euro and American white athlete. Maybe not. The list is not even close to comprehensive though. Also, holy crap boxing has got some big stars with horrible stuff on their record.

It's amazing how quickly Letsrun threads get turned into racist diatribes. This message board is full of hate. Here we started the thread talking about one individual and his actions and it took no more than a page to devolve into a broad condemnation of an entire race of people.

People wonder why Cross Country and Track are so unpopular in the United States. I wouldn't want to go on a run with most of the people who post on this board based on their bitter tirades; why waste my life listening to someone's grudge or hate or unchangable views?

If the thread isn't full of hateful ranting about someone elses college or team or workout schedule then it is probably going to be something negative about race.

This whole thread is borderline racist. Its sad to read some of the comments people are posting about blacks. Im not excusing his multiple arrests but the X-man is one person. He does not define my race. Many whites and other races commit crimes and are never arrested or are punished less severely. Also races, such as, blacks generally are subjected to much harsher childhoods and broken households. There are many experience that poor black people go through that you will never understand. How many people here have drug addicts in their family? dont have both parents? dont have role models? never left their neighborhood? never been loved or cared? worried about their next meal? You should think about these things before you go judging a race or person. The X-man clearly made some bad decisions considering his opportunities but lets just leave it at that.

Carrying a concealed weapon: 3.5-5.0 Years (State Prison) Felony.

Possesion of Marijuana +2.0 Grams: 10.0-20.0 Years (State Prison) Felony.

Refusing a Trafic Ticket: Least of his Worries.

Xavier Carter is 24 Years Old he may have just thrown his future away. He could be looking at least being 30-31 years old upon release or if the Judge is real harsh 49-50 years old upon release. Do Judges really care if you are an olympic Track Athlete? To be honest they don't they are trying to make an example out of athletes these days. If you think they do ask Angelo Taylor or Tim Montgomery.

Me personally I think they should do the same time as everyone else. They get payed plenty of cash to not make these time of choices I have no remorse...

For anyone who does not understand the American Justice system 3 Felonies is life behind bars do to The Unites States 3 strike offenders law...
