NAU and W&M debunked the DII myth that Adams could win DI at the Jamboree. Yes, Adams is good. Yes, they could finish top 10. but winning it all? that's a joke.

DI critics of DII can't have it both ways -- using results from an early October meet (Jamboree '09) to say Adams winning it all is a joke to discrediting a late September win by Adams at Griak in '08 as meaningless. Likewise, DII (or Adams fans) shouldn't do the same. I'm not making any claims as to how Adams would have done this year, but I hope the DII critics can look at things without their personal biases and insecurities.

Im not saying that Jamboree doesnt matter. Im saying that Adams ran a heck of a lot better at DII nationals than they did at the Jamboree.

Oklahoma didnt run vail, he was the only one who mattered. Fernandez was there 5th man at 93rd. he didnt mean much to the xc team this year because he was so far back. battling injury or not he got 93rd. Adams 100% would of put their top 6 at least in front of Oklahomas 5th.

cross country is not track but a good way to look at things is by track times. luke cragg, 5th asc man at nats, has run 1405 on the track. that is pretty damn good. good enough to win d1's? probably not, but good enough to be in the mix. how many teams really have 5 guys that can run 1405 or better? 10 teams at the absolute most. i would be fairly certain they would have beaten colorado on monday. i think it would be pretty close between the first 2 guys even though i think mwei/braun are better than thompson/medina. after that i think adams wins through 5 runners. remember that braun won the rocky mountain shootout in 2008 when jordan kyle was 2nd and ended up 14th at ncaa's. they are better than most people give them credit for but not good enough to walk into d1's and just take the title.

So what point is being proven? That on Monday, when the NCAA D1 finals were whack and a lot of teams ran horribly Adams State could have contended for a top 5? Maybe? That's great. Really. Good job. They are a good team, the best in D2. Good for them. I know my goal was never to be a D2 champ tho, it's to see how high I can finish in D1 competition because saying you were 10th in D1 is better than saying you've won D2. You are more likely to be better in competition relative to everyone if you compete in D1 instead of D2 as well.

I'm not saying Adams State doesn't deserve any credit but it is ridiculous to think they're team's hypothetical race on Monday would have competed for a top 5 when so many top programs had bad races. Who's to say Adams State wouldn't have run worse?

All in all, I do not think they should really be compared until they are in D1. But good job on being the best D2 team Adams State

IF Adams raced at DI nats like they did race at DII nats, then they woruld have been around Alabama. Their top 3 would have been in the 5-20 range, their # 4 would have been at 50 give or take ten, and their #5 right around #75 give or take 10. Puts them at say 8, 15,16, 50, 75 (164pts).

Just wondering why people are so obsessed with Jamboree. When Adams won Griak I remember teammates arguing that they had peaked for that race. But now, when they lose a midseason race against D1 teams everyone predicts that is exactly how they would race at the end of the season. I just think Adams, just like any other team, trains to peak at nationals, NOT some midseason invitational. So to make a prediction off Griak results or Jamboree is worthless.

You really think that ASC's Top 3 is a better trio than any other team in the nation after OSU? Seriously? Where the hell did you get those numbers? You think they're #1 is a 5th place guy at D1's? That he's better than Ulrey or Mead? That he's looking at McNeill and Derrick's heels?
