You're kidding right? Did you watch the video of the race. Blood was dead at the end. She had nothing left. She ran a gutty race and gave it her best. That is all anyone can ask of any athlete. She ran to the best of her ability that day like a 100 other young women out there. She is simply not the athlete her teammate is - Hasay nor the athlete Jenny and Susan are. She's good but not great, and she ran a good race.

That's completely false. Verzbickas turns 17 in January, and is the same age as anyone who has been held back a year.

Re "female Pre", completely agree. Watch the video. Jordan was under full power with easy extension at the finish, behind world class Jenny and smart, funny pro Susan who have 5 years on her. She thought there may have been another loop, and held back till she saw the finish in the distance. I don't believe anyone can really challenge Barenger this year, but as confidence in her strength comes Hasay shows every sign of being able to battle Kuijkin by NCAA, and lead the league by next year. The little girl who had great battles with Christine Babcock has grown up. She has the physical tools to match her spirit.
The little Allie McClaughlin is fierce, and stayed remarkably close to the leaders for someone so tiny. She showed that Pre fearlessness when she tried to take HS CC Championship from the front last year - and almost did.

And Mel Lawrence... too bad Laurynne Chetelat won't be there...
Mel is a good runner no doubt. However, she does not have the fire needed to win. She always seems to hang with one of her fellow teammates. I have never seen her challenge anyone for the win in a championship meet. She seems content to place or show not win.
