The unspoken rule is that she asked you to go for a run so you run at her pace. You did not, you ran faster than her pace and thus became a total ass. SHE asked you to accompany her, not to drill her into the ground.
You got no game fool. If you just work on your game and just run with women at their pace, rather than continually picking it up and showing them how fast you are.... you won't be a 40 year old virgin :-). I hope you work on your politeness, you were a jerk to her.

I don't care how fast the girl is or how competitive she may be, no one invites you to go for a run (or a bike ride) and enjoys getting smeared. You're stuck now because if you ask her to run again, she'll think you're mocking her. Guarantee you this...she won't ask you again.
Dude...I hope this is a trolling attempt, otherwise you are completely clueless. Think about it, you PUSHED THE PACE while running with a girl. Who the hell does that? If you're in high school, I understand, but if you are in college or older you have small hope with the ladies.
If you are going on a run with ANYONE that is not a predetermined hard workout, all running should be at a conversational pace for all parties involved, otherwise someone is laboring past the point of comfort.

I actually see this alot in the trails where a guy is running about 10 steps ahead of a girl even though they are essentially running at the same pace.
For some reason, the insecure guys needs to let it known that he is faster than the girl.

Maybe the OP had no interest in said female runner other than just being friends. He is probably a selfish individual who must not care if she was offended. Or it sounds like he felt put-out to spend any time with her so he tried to get in a good run/ride so as to not waste his own time.
Actually, I've found it surprisingly easy to push the pace when running with faster women (16:30-17:30 folks). They run fast enough that it feels similar to my typical runs, so sometimes I drop the pace subconsciously. I usually make an effort to keep them a half-step ahead, so I know I'm not the one setting the pace.
On the other hand, it's really easy to run easy with slower (20 minute) girls, because you're so clearly just jogging.
I run with a man who one-steps me the entire time. It is so annoying and when I try to pull even, he ups the tempo. This doesn't really compare to the OP or the jerk who drilled the girl on the bike.
