Anyone with half a brain could tell you Smith doesn't know what he's doing (look at the massacre with their last xc season). Even if O-State maanges to do something big, obviously the credit is going to be given to his "freak" talents, not to Smith, b/c there is no feel good story of a runner he has built up, no runner that he gave inspiration to do anything, rather and only creating a fake persona and acting "buddy-buddy like" to come off as caring for one's well being, but that's part of the false image that's he creates.... it's how he works to recruit. Speaking with some of those guys down there, most hate life there, but what can you do when you're running bad enough, but can't get money else where when your coach has you running so bad, to the point, that one can't afford to go elsewhere.

Two years ago when OSU had that shocking third place finish at nationals, Dave Smith was a great coach. Last year his best runner DNF and now he is a terrible coach, leading to an 8th place finish. This type of logic is why I hate people.

Geez this sounds like you could be talking about any successful/unsuccessful coach or successful/unsuccessful program and every successful/unsuccessful program has kids that don't want to be there or hate life there, because they might not be succeeding at their percieved expectation. like take the new kid or so called "freak" talent Girma, did he not just leave another successful/unsuccessful program, so he must have been hating life there or something to want to leave so badly and he was a very successful part of that successful/unsuccessful program. So obviously you must talk to all the non "freak" talent that can't afford to go elsewhere?

No matter how much you tell your athletes to keep quiet, be a big enough asshole long enough and people are sure to talk I s'pose. It may be a thing of the past as their runners seemed to do better this past spring. Maybe runners 4 through 20 aren't worthless after all?

Regardless, I'd like to see them do well. I don't know how anyone could have the talent they did last year and f*** it up so bad. Hopefully Smith learned his lesson.

nobody, including myself has ever claimed that I was the sharpest tool in the tool box, but one thing I have learned in life is that "misery loves company" So Speaker of Wisconsin since you talk to "some" of the guys in Stillville hatin' life there, my money says you are equally unhappy in Wisconsin and you and "some" of your non "freak" talent boys hating life in Wisconsin like swappin misery stories with other programs about how bad you got it where your at and how it would by some miracle change if your surroundings or coaches changed, when in reality its your own unwillingness to change that is holding you back.... but feel free to bash away or tear at OSU as I am sure there is enuff "freak" talent there to get the job done.....

He did not have a very good year last year. A return to form for him and RP inproving OSU can have one or two of ther top falter at NCAA'S and they still have the depth in their 6th and 7th man to pick the one's thtn falter and still win. Yes it is vacqueros, but I like the literal translation better. This board is for fun, no one is getting graded.

Nice try. But if you are going to be saying something so asinine you might want to separate it from moronic predictions.

DC is key? He didn't just have a "not very good year" last year. He had a horrible year, preceded by a horrible year in track and followed by another horrible year on the track. If you think there is much more than a snowball's chance in h*El that he'll come remotely close to his 17th two years ago then please let me know what you're smoking.

And as far as RP. I'm sure he's a great kid but he is nowhere near, not even in the same galaxy as he'd need to be in order to really help out a national championship run.

German 1st to 3rd a reasonable prediction

Vail 8th in 2007, 18th in 2008

Kosgei 7th last year

Girma 16th last year

Colby 63rd last year

Chirchir 15th in 2007, 106th last year.

If all falls into place, OSU has four guys in the top 10, and a number of talented younger guys, including Colby Lowe, who could score very well.

Not as old ndn runner: has done the research. Look at OSU previous finishes. And now they are one two years older. Once again the "LUCK" part that DS talks about is all the runners having a good day on the same day. I ran when UTEP was spanking every one. IF all the stars are in order OSU can realy score close to 30 points. Will it happen, I hope so. MY last post on this until after OSU has won.

Notice the only two who returned placed much worse than the year before. Based on that, 2009 looks like this.
