You say he's not a thing.. i just learned about him yesterday. Guy sounds AMAZING.

I respect his mental toughness and think it is really beneficial in life. I've only heard him say he hates this or that, is there anything he enjoys? Does he just enjoy challenges and getting mentally tougher regardless of the task or activity?
Guy is one of the least self promoting individuals out there. Given his list of endurance achievements, he could easily be making bank on the motivational speaker circuit, on a TV show, or who knows what else. If you think otherwise, read Jesse Itzler's book that he's featured in.
he only started Facebook in the last year because people were asking him to do so. Dude really just lives his life like he wants to, and screw the rest. Personally, I think he's got a screw loose, a pain addiction, or both. But has to be one of the most mentally tough people on the planet. Respect
I think the craziest thing Goggins has accomplished is stretching for 12 hours a day for multiple months.
He needs to come back and run across America. For a cause. With an RV.
Reading this time capsule is fascinating. People have been hating on David Goggins for his entire life, for reasons so trivial, you scratch your head when you read them. “Screw this guy, he says he hates running and does it anyway!” Come again? Has anyone ever criticized anyone for that? You are reaching so far up there to find something, you’ve found a completely new criticism that no one ever thought to make before. That’s the magic of Goggins, he reveals what has always been said about most armchair critics, they’re terrified of their own inadequacy, and spectacular people threaten them to no end. Goggins is a genius when it comes to your own weakness OP. It’s 14 years later now, his interviews show that he knew your weakness better than you did, because he overcame the same weakness in himself. He is really a student of psychology from experience, and he shows how a lot of cliches have a deep resonance of truth if you dig into the deep unconscious mind. No pain, no gain, used to be a cliche, he proved why.
I took a run this morning on this “I don’t want to do it” mentality. That’s most days if you actually DO IT. if you run 3x a week after 3 meals and scrolling forums at work, yeah, that doesn’t make sense. “I love running!” You might say. “I don’t want to hear someone talk about running any harder than I do, I never want to run when it’s not fun!” Then you’re a novice runner dude. I wonder if you’ve owned that since? The irony that this dude is still exactly the same. Didn’t allow his name and picture to be used in the first book about him. He only identified himself out of huge demand, and still does fewer interviews or social media than anyone his level. I can’t even argue with your logic, because it’s not about logic, it’s about “who does this guy think he is! That’s too much for me, so it should be too much for everyone!” To quote the man himself, “you don’t know me son.” I was whispering that to myself on my run today, and I found new strength. By the end of the whole thing my body tingled in a way I’ve never felt, almost like psychedelic, I had to lay down in the grass to “appreciate my pain.” I could barely move, but finally I understood what he meant when he said that he laid in the bathtub appreciating his own pain after ultras. That’s a corner of the mind I’ve never felt, but if I listened to people like you, I never would. I’d be dying from over recovery, smoking weed and trying to get 10 hours of sleep on my whoop watch like I did for the 2 years before rediscovering Goggins. I wasn’t even “there” for months. I’m writing this comment because I’ve taken some time to really read comments on people like Goggins, and realize they get more crap than anyone from people who should know better. It finally gave me the strength to pursue a career as a first responders at 36 years. The reason I read the comments? I want to prepare myself for the fact that I am feeling myself go from a failing middle aged man boy to an absolute unit, and I fully expect everyone, even runners, even other first responders, to sound just like you. Save a life? “What do you think you’re god, most people don’t have the luxury to save lives.” I’m not even talking about extreme political people online, I’m talking about runners like you, other cops. I fully expect them to diminish me with whatever little scrap they can get whenever I am better than them. But boy were you all polite to me when I was a miserable loser without a purpose and a bunch of heartbreak. No one had any advice for me then! The reason you’re criticizing this man, is because your shadow is projecting onto him. Your shadow wants you to be the one who is feared, the one who can not be destroyed, the one who chews nails and likes the pain. The one who protects, provides, never complains, and gets it done. But until you can go deep into yourself like Goggins helped me do, you will think “that’s only them, and it’s wrong,” when in reality the warrior archetype is alive in you, and that’s why you made this comment. I wish I knew if 14 years was enough time for you to have any realizations or changes of heart, because Goggins is still transforming lives every single day and almost no human on earth can say that. I am one of them.
