What Did Bolt Do at the Ostrava Press Conference?

i am sick of Bolt, but that was really funny.

not many adults, let alone elite athletes can have fun with a situation like that...

i mean it is kind of an absurd deal...all those people there to see one person...put him on a pedestal.

i bet he sees his running purely as performing.

if more runners did they might win more.

I can't see what was wrong with that either. If he was being given an OBE (or whatever the commonwealth equivalent is) by the Queen then maybe his clowning would be inappropriate but to be honest it would probably still be funny and generate good publicity for the sport.

THat should answer any questions about whether or not he's on drugs. The guys is too much of a little kid to be doping. He's a clown. I like him, but I think the press conference behavior is out of place. Like I said , however, he's just a big kid...find it hard to see him doping. He's probably at home playing video games when the cheaters are getting syringes stuck in their asses.

Maybe he was just trying to have fun, or "being himself" or whatever...but at a press conference WHILE someone else was speaking? I think it was very disrespectful to the people trying to speak.

He was at times a horse's ass. Other times just an ass. At no time did he show any class.

from the reaction of some people I had assumed he was swearing, doing coke or something else that is just horrible... but I was sorely dissapointed.

Seriously what was wrong with that? He is a character, in any other sport except for maybe the Funeral Directors Cup that kind of behaviour at press conference would be par for the course if not downright encouraged. Like seriously he wasn't showing disrespect or any other behaviour which could even be tangentialy described as out of line. He is jus extremily comfortable with the attention and press he gets and he knows how to satiate that love he gets. I would truly challenge someone to describe in detail how what he did in this specific instance, as shown by the video, which was so heinous and reprehensible. I am not even talking about in relative terms to other sports or to other sprinters but what did he do that makes him such a terrible person???? I think your going to have to scrape the bottom of your reasoning to come up with even a half plausible reason to be outraged.

This is where I am on this topic. I much prefer Bolt's antics to all those drug filled American sprinters of the past who felt it was a necessity to intimidate their opponents by being "hard" men.The divergent personalities of Bolt and Gay should make this a really interesting couple of years in T&F. All the hardworking, God fearing, no nonsense types will root for Gay and all the jokesters, ne’er-do-wells, slackers will root for Bolt.Because I am a Baby Boomer with a Gen X moon so while I like Bolt's personality I will ultimately hope Gay nails him in Berlin.

The Clip showing his "antics" only shows the antics and doesnt play the media event all the way through. It may have been in harmless jest. On the other hand - since we couldn't watch the whole event - Bolt very well may have been rude.

Bolt has declared that he wants to be a legend. Therefore, he is going to DO everything possible to promote himself. Be sure of this...He will back it up on the track in order to get that desired legendary status.

I think it was harmless, what he did. BUT, if he really was upstaging the other guy, It wont take long before the more civil among us begin to ignore him. He will get away with it as long as he is being pandered to.

I thought that was hilarious. It's good to see that some people have personality and aren't afraid to show it.

I have this really nice picture. It's big, but it has a little flaw in it. Lots and lots of people have looked at this picture, and they all commented on what a great picture it was.

I m the man with Usain at the press conference. Im also the meet organiser of Ostrava. The video is cutted and take it as something for amusement. Do not take it too seriously. In the whole press conference as it was he was totally ok and we all (including writers and photographers) liked his way. We need new fresh air in the sport to attract young people. In the stadium later after his race it was like after Beatles concert. One photographer said, I saw something similar at Led Zeppelin concert. We needed to close the stadium for first time in the history of the meet because still so many people wanted to come. Usain was great, cooperative, no signs of "big super star" behaviour.
