usually when you scratch a race then you do not get to compete any more for the rest of the meet. so then he would have not get to run his 10k

but best american distance runner? really? what about teg and legat, those guys are beating africans....consistently.

More importantly, WHO THE F... CARES if he lives in Eugene, Springfield, Cottage Grove, or whether he commutes from Corvallis or Salem. Is he not legally enrolled at Oregon to legally compete at the NCAA level?

lots of college students don't live in the town of their college.

galen is an amazing runner.

and i would hate to take anything away from his running this weekend. However, it is weird that he is still in the NCAA. I have no problems with his collegiate status, but instead why would he even want to still be in the NCAA. He is far and away the best of anyone at this level. Again, not to cheapen his running, but at this point shouldn't people expect him to knock people to the floor.

he must have his own reasons for wanting to stick around, but its weird that people don't expect him to dominate any ncaa race he is in.

Easy to say that now, not everyone was convinced he was going to take down sam at NCAA cross. Sam also finished just over a 2nd behind rupp in the 13:18 5K effort this season. Some believe Fernandez may give him a run at 5K, and would have at 3K indoors if he raced it.

He is not the best miler, and he will probably do some miles/1500s this spring with college runners and have no guarantee of a win.

The thing is, he made HUGE strides this winter by working out with Wheating, AJ and Centro on speed. He's having a great time re-write the Oregon and collegiate record books and it's his right to, he's STILL IN COLLEGE.

If Rono, PRE, Salazar etc. etc. went through their full eligibility why shouldn't Galen?

Galen has said many times that he really enjoys being on the team. That's why he sticks around.
