Runners with national records in every event from 1,500 to the marathon including the steeple?

I think Mary Decker Tabb Slaney held all US records from 800 to 10000 at the same time. Women didn't run the steeple in those days.

We received an email today that stated the American Patti Dillon once held the following road records:

"They were done on the roads. 5 miles, 10km, 15km, 10 miles, 20km, 13.1 miles. 30km, marathon. Didn't have 5k's then."

Pretty impressive. But once again, obviously no steeple.

So far no one has answered in the affirmative except maybe Aouita? Was his 8:21 the NR?

According to data at alltime-athletics.com, Aouita held the Morroccan steeple record from Sep 24 1987 until June 25 1991, when Abdelaziz Sahere ran 8:19.08.

Paavo Nurmi held every Finnish record from 1500m to 1 hour except the steeple, where he was #2 on the national list. In 1932 he ran his only (quasi-)marathon, a 40k race. I can't find the time on that right now but I recall it was a near-WR time if you factored in the extra 2.2k, and definitely faster than Finnish record pace.

What technicality? Garderud has never held the Swedish 1500, 3000, 10000 or marathon records.

The technicality that, sure, here's three or four inconsequential records he didn't hold, but aren't all the others in this range close enough? What are ya, some kind of pedant? You gonna make me append a smiley or a "nudge nudge wink wink"?

How about Bronislaw Malinowski, Poland, 1980 Olympic steeple champ? Know he got a medal at 10k in European Championship, Probably ran around 3:36, 13:20, 28:00, 8:10

Maybe little bit surprising, but Fernando Mamede had every Portugese NR from 800m to 10000m (800m, 1000m, 1500m, 1 Mile, 2000m, 3000m, 2 Miles, 5000m, 10000m). Also some hardly were of international calibre, thats a great achievement!

The race he ran in was a proper 42.2k marathon (as far as course measuring in those days went), but Nurmi had decided that he would only run 40k or 25 miles and that's what he did. He reckoned that would be enough to qualify him for Olympic Marathon in Los Angeles - but as we know it was not to be due to his famous principle of "Erst Geld, dann laufen!"

The time was 2.22 and 2.29 would've been a new Finnish NR, but his 5000m NR had already been broken by then. (Still, it would've been a remarkable to achievement to have held all the distance records at one time or another.)

Gunther did it. In his 2nd marathon over the weekend in Frankfurt, he ran 2:10:47 to get the Austrian record in the marathon. He now holds them all 1,500 through the marathon.

Simply unreal.

How about Karel Lismont of Belgium? I'm just guessing, no time to research right now.

Ghost, are you kidding? Lismont was running during the time frame of Gaston Roelants and Emile Puttemants. Hardly think he would have a slew of records other than, possibly, the marathon.

Held WR in 3K, 3K steeple, 5 and 10K at the same time, no Kenyon record in the 1500m or marathon as far as I know.

... what about Filbert Bayi? he held the world record in the 1500m for Tanzania, and won an olympic silver in the steeple,...so the only question is did he run faster than nyambui in the 5k and 10K? and did he ever run a marathon?
