ESPN has ruined our nation

Just get rid of your TV. It's possible to live a great quality life without TV, and you'll find it frees up a lot of your time. I don't plan on getting a TV (don't own one now) if only to keep my kids from having such a negative influence in their lives. Does anyone else find it ironic that people watch a TV show to get an entertaining glimpse of "reality" rather than going out, doing something "real," and living life?

Good point, Can you believe that people PAY to watch TV..??think about it..we pay cable companies or direct tv..??..I know people that pay $100.00 a month for expanded cable tv...I am thinking something is very wrong when our culture has made that a norm.....

Can you believe that people post messages on running boards? I mean, running, what is that? People waste their time and money on a lot of things, and we are all doing it right now. You could be out making money, thinking of new ideas to improve your lifestyle, but we bitch about TV....see the irony?

Haven't read the whole thread, but what I can't stand is how the announcers have SHOUT THE WHOLE TIME THEY ARE DESCRIBING THE ACTION. Just do your reporting and stop trying to become part of the action with your SHOUTING and cheap catch phrases.

espn ruins all sports by showing only the high-lites...but sports ruin it for themselves by having games run toooo long.... three and a half hour baseball and football games are a travesty... and of course running has destroyed its credibility for not hunting down and eliminating the drug frauds (el g. and geb, especially)

No turtle power I dont see the irony...I for one , cannot compare watching tv with running...maybe you can, but sorry I cant....

I hear that. The last 20 years have witnessed the a complete drop off in the quality of major team sports. Scoring is down across the board except for baseball where everyone is juiced. In basketball no one runs and no one passes. And why should they, thanks to ESPN and all the other fat TV contracts, it no longer matters how hard you play, you still collect your 10 mil per year. There's a lot of other factors, but ESPN has definately done its part to promote selfishness among athletes. Oh and Nasty Drunk, I feel like dropping out to. Modern society is a f***ing joke.
