Take off the rose tinted glasses wadistance, McNiell is legit without a doubt, but Rupp would absolutely destroy him in a match race, or any race for that matter. Case in point about 3 weeks ago.

Hmmm not so sure- 28.03 with a blazing last lap is indicative of pretty good match racing ability. Maybe Rupp runs a bit quicker in a time trial, but surely even he would be no certainty to close with that sort of speed. If McNeill holds it together there could be some interesting racing.
curtis, weidlenger and birmingham and maybe even shelly shared the lead in 900m segments, mcneil led half a lap tops.
Curtis and and Shelly would've finished like that too if they'd had a free ride like McNeil had.
Michael Shelly is the next Ryan Hall, he ran 3.39 as a junior f0r 1500m and this yeat while supposedly pacing a half marathon, did'nt pull out and ran 62.40 leading the whole way into a head wind.
He will run a 2.08 marathon before very much longer.
Does anyone know who is coaching Michael Shelley? I checked on Athletics Australia but they didn't have a profile on him.

all very true, I didn't realize Shelly was so old when he ran 3.39, what did he do as a true Junior?
I guess my meaning was he is a guy who everyone assumed would be a 1500 or maybe 5km star who really looks like he is going to be lethal, (probably not 2.06 lethal) over longer distances like 10km - marathon.
Here is the race video... look at what McNeill does to the NCAA 5km champ in the last 3 hunj. Damn!

Bobby Curtis looks like he's lost a little bit of weight compared to that ncaa 5k win. Granted, he's still bigger than most, but Solinsky would do well to pay attention.
Curtis is now as fast as Wejo.
