What Olympian would that be?
What Olympian would that be?
4:45 1500, so about a 5:05 or so.
4:30ish.
6:18 7th grade
6:04 8th grade
I forget the 7th grade, but 5:32 in 8th grade. unfortunately, after ankle sprains 5:32 in 9th grade and then hugely slow improvement after that, 5:20, 5:06, 4:55, then 4:43 as a freshman in college and 4:39 as a soph before injuries.
oooh good thread... Things are getting juicy
4:48 7th
4:41 8th
6:02, and I was the slowest of 20 guys on the team, plus about 5 or 6 girls could beat me too.
of course, I can now beat all of the guys by 40+ sec and the girls by far more. So middle school was kinda insignificant.
7th - 5:16
8th - 5:02
OK, so we don't get "the name." Then can you give us clues so we can dork out and see who the biggest loser is...the one that picks which olympian it is...
I'll start, I say, 4000ft, El Paso, Alan Culpepper aka "the SolePepper"
You guys suck.

We didn't have any kind of youth or middle school track programs in my area. I was a skateboarder, running the mile in gym class in a pair of Vans or Chuck Taylor's. I ran a total of one mile per year while I was in 6th and 7th grade, and both were in gym class. I didn't own a pair of running shoes until I started running XC in 9th grade.
I only ran a 5:52, but it was a beer mile.
I didn't run one then, but I remember a girl in WA in the 70's named Deanna Coleman, who ran 4:59 for the full mile in 6th grade. She went on to set some HS national records (4:40-ish), but was toast by college.
I ran a 4:51 full mile in 8th grade and I was in the mid-late 9s in 7th/8th grade for the 3000.
Some of you boys are pathetic.
I ran a 6:15 mile in 7th grade gym class around a soccer field. I was very distressed because I lost to a kid on the soccer team... I had quit soccer to run cross country that year. I have lost many races, but none have come close to the sting of that horrible day!
6:19
I love how these threads always turn into PR explanations and lists of excuses. What was your mile time in 7th grade...
5:07 for 1600
7:01 (multiple times) in 6th grade.
6:04 in 7th grade, but I think that course was short.
5:52 in 8th grade.
4:5x in HS.
Haven't raced a mile since.
