Guys, Rambo is a movie. There are no super troopers out there. Just like a Navy Seal isn't going to outrun a pro runner, nor is he going to outfight a pro fighter, nor is he going to outshoot a world class marksman.
Granted, a high level runner, fighter, or marksman can go on to become a Navy Seal (and vice versa - a Seal can become one of these things), but that of course would be an exception. Just because Dan Browne was an Olympian doesn't mean all Army guys can beat everyone on this board in running.
The pro fighter wins this one, no contest.
In a one-on-one fight with no weapons, a UFC guy would have no trouble at all destroying any armed forces guy. Pro fighters train hours every single day on their muay thai, wrestling, boxing and jiu jitsu. An armed forces guy might get a few hours training in how to fight. If an armed forces guy doesn't have any training in brazillian jiu-jitsu, they would be choked unconscious or have limbs snapped in a manner of seconds. MMA does have rules, but that doesn't mean they would follow it outside the ring. They would be just as good, if not much better than anyone at biting, stomping on the ground, etc. Their was a WEC guy, who went to visit the armed forces and asked if anyone wanted to spar. He sparred with some guy about 50 lbs. heavier than him and within a minute, the guy was knocked down and quit. (and this was with full size boxing gloves and headgear on.)
UFC is Too chicken I know. That's typical of jocks, cops, firemen. They're good in the gym but can't do shit in the real world. By law Marines kill, no scriptwriters, no referees, no trainers. UFC would be dead in a day. Your tax money is well spent.

Navy SEALs are trained to kill, MMA fighters are trained to grab another man in a slightly homoerotic manner until the other guy taps out due to excessive gayness.

UFC guy, hands down.
The special forces guys are weapons/assault/stealth specialist. There self defense is 10% of their training, while a UFC guy spends all day working on hand to hand combat.
The people talking about Krav Maga don't understand that it is designed to be used against a untrained opponent. Much of Krava Maga is similar to Kempo. It is designed to hit an un-ready opponent multiple times quickly and get space to run away (or fire your weapon) or to dis-arm them and level the playing field. It is not designed for fair, hand to hand combat.
A well trained MMA guy is going to have an effective jab that keeps all those kempo or krav maga moves out beyond range and/ro is going to have effective take down defense.
There is a reason Chuck liddel doesn't use any of the kempo strikes in the ring.
Bottom line is that unless the special forces guy has spent a decent amount of extra curricular time studying boxing, he would be in deep trouble quickly and likely on his back before he knew it.
Ignoring the fact that the special forces guys aren't really trained in martial arts the way MMA guys or even top krava maga guys are trained, there is debate in the martial arts community over, the "sport" MA and the "too deadly" or "real life" martial arts, and frankly it really seems to be that the "sport" guys have won. Krava Maga is kind of cross between the two and therefore has gained quite a bit of popularity as a practical self defense art.
What appears to be the case is that real fights are too disorganized and the "real life" martial artists are to un-used to real life combat to take advantage their training against another well trained fighter. Bottom line is that it doesn't matter if you have some supper throat chop, eye gouge, finger wrench, if you are un-prepared to take a quick uppercut on the way in you are on you back because of a "sport" strike and somebody is now stomping on your head.
There you go man. Jocks have to have referees and umpires. Anyone can be tough in that situation. Cops and fire people pull out when it's too risky. USMC and SEALS fight to kill and die trying. In a fight with UFC, one man is coming back alive, and one in a body bag.

you do realize that there quite a few marines in the UFC/WEC and there are is only one title holder to date.

My MMA gym has a former Navy Seal who fights at 185 and 205, who we call Captain America. He's a big and athletic dude, but he gets tied in knots in jiu-jitsu practice by our instructor, who fights at 145, and will be on this upcoming season of the Ultimate Fighter. I think that answers this posters thread. This thread reminds me of my military friends who think they could beat me in a race because they run around in combat boots so much.
I would love to hear Dwight Schrute's or Gareth Keenan's (depending on which version of the Office you fancy) answer to this.
And don't forget about the Pros vs. Joes episode where Randy Couture was in the middle of his first retirement, and isn't known for having a good submission game, absolutely made a mockery of the contestant, in submission wrestling, who was an Army Close-Combat Instructor. MMA fighters do nothing but train self-defense all day which the Seal also focuses on many other aspects.
Now put a 1911 on the special forces dudes hip though and he creates distance and hits him with a Mozambique.

WWE/UFC/MMA are scripted plays by Hollywood stunt artists. Soldiers, SEALS and Marines are professional killers.

So you asked a question wanting to hear a specific answer?
They both get knives. Same result. UFC guy wins but it is more of a crap shoot since neither are really specialists, although a UFC guy's training is more analogous.
Bottom line is special forces train with guns, because guns is what they use. In fact special forces guys train with long guns primarily so anything that doesn't involve their specialty, another specialist is going to win. If you have actually ever seen real close-in combat, you will realize that guys will stand 3 feet from each other and fire off rounds. It just doesn't go down like in the movies.
I have even worse, more demoralizing news for you. give a special forces dude a sword, and one of those dumpy chick fencers from oregon the same, and your hero is going to get his arse run through....
Fight with Knives: A cagefighter would not have a chance. I know that the Rangers train to throw knives and that the SEALs are very skilled with knife fighting. I'd bet the farm that in a knife fight a UFC fighter wouldn't know how to properly hold the thing, much less know how to fight a man trained to kill with it.
Fight with no weapons with set terms (i.e. time place) and conditions: The MMA/UFC fighter has a clear advantage because this is the type of thing he trains for. That said, I'd set the odds of the warrior winning at 40%.
Random Fight outside of a Bar: I'd go with the SEAL or the Marine because they would thrive in that sort of impromptu unregulated environment. The fighter would be good no doubt, but less ready for a no holds barred, spontaneous fight against someone he knows nothing about.
