What distances are in King of D contest ? my scores seem off and different than yesterdays total
Thanks
If both entries are identical and you feel no intent to stuff the ballot box was made give him the prize.

Who gives a s**t. The guy won, I'm impressed and happy for him. Give him the first place prize but not the second, that seems like the best solution.

I like the idea of DQ'ing the first place entry, but not the 2nd place one. That takes into account that he was upfront about things. In my opinion, it's smart to have an incentive for people to 'fess up, esp. if that's the only way they'd get "caught". Treating people who come forward voluntarily the same as people who get caught doesn't seem quite right.
And kudos to Rojo for tossing this out there for people to comment on.
If his 1st place is DQ'd won't his 2nd place automatically become 1st? Other then that, props to him, it's fitting that a board so accustomed to calling people out for cheating has one in their midst.
why is it more impressive that he got second also? he probably just made almost exactly the same picks. just give him first.
Rojo, the guy is on a roll. He also won a copy of Brad Hudson's Training Book Run Fasteron this thread.

I think he's some kind of expert computer hacker or something.
You could send a crack compliance team lead by Roy Shildt, aka "Mr Awesome," to verify the winners computer.

Sorry, wasn't clear. I was suggesting bumping third place up to first place. So instead of being 1. Stuffer "A" Entry, 2. Stuffer "B" Entry, 3. SomeOtherPerson; it'd be 1. SomeOtherPerson, 2. Stuffer "B" Entry, 3. YetSomeoneElse.".
Wow, can't believe I'm spending brain cells on this.
I think the fact that he got 1st AND 2nd isn't important. I'm guessing that his web browser froze up and he wasn't sure if his first ballot was submitted, so he went back to fill it out again, forgot who he had picked for the women's hammer (no offense to former women's hammer throwers who are now distance running geeks that read LRC message boards), and thus his 1st and 2nd place ballots are almost identical.
At the same time, I do appreciate his honesty, and would thus give him the 1st place prize anyway (assuming that my above hypothesis of how events unfolded is correct).
I've also made a mental note that I should fill out the next prediction contest 2,000 times because you weren't checking for multiple entries ;-)
Give him the first place prize and bump everyone else up a spot.
Has double secret probation been considered? Harsh, yes. But these punks need to be taught a lesson.
Rojo, Wejo,
I suggest you make him post his PRs and training log on the site for the next year and let the peanut gallery at him. This is a constructive punishment, as I am sure that he will emerge a better runner as a result of the collective wisdom of the geniuses here.
If he really wants to get his act together, he could also post his investment strategy.

If he submitted 2 entries because of some kind of computer glitch like some have offered here, I would throw out the 2nd place and keep the first. If he simply forgot that he had already submitted and entry and then submitted another I would throw out the 1st and keep the second.
I think he should get a LRC singlet for his honesty though.
Rojo can you post the reason for the person having two accounts. If its really a good one and honest one I will think differently.
Also I think you should eliminate him from the top 3 and give him/her a different prize. For example give him/her a chance to make a front page article about how they killed all of us TWICE and rightfully brag about it. You could also make a letsrun prize package (t shirt, race gear etc) to send to them.
Post it as a poll on the homepage with a full explanation, and let the votes decide.
DQ him because those were the rules you made but then give him the bonus prize of the Sell jersey which you said can go to whoever you want
America is about celebrating cheaters until they get caught. So he was a stud yesterday and now he is a cheater. The only question is the b sample.
If you believe it to be an honest mistake, and someone has multiple entries, I would eliminate all but their WORST entry. Thus, in this case, he would still win but not take second. The 3rd best score would take 2nd and so on.
It clearly depends on whether the second set of picks were made under optimal conditions. He may have cranked up the A/C in the house a little to get better picking condtitions. A very real and unfair advantage.
If someone makes multiple entries any penalty stronger than one that takes the minimum score seems overly strong, although there is the issue of enforcing/identifying multiple entries might be an issue. For instance, was he/she 1st, 2nd, and 10th; in which case 1/2 get dropped and he gets 10th, which is promoted to 8th.
