BCAAs (leucine, isoleucine, valine) are amino acids that make up approx 1/3 of muscle tissue. Leucine especially has been linked directly with protein synthesis. Instantized BCAAs can be absorbed directly into the muscle. They are absorbed quickly. They raise insulin levels similar to carbohydrate. Research shows a combination of BCAA and carbs raised insulin levels 221% compared to 66% with carbs alone. Readily available building blocks of muscle + high insulin response = increase protein synthesis (muscle recovery).
BCAAs can also be used as "instant muscle fuel". BCAAs can be converted into acetyl COA which of course is used in glycolysis.

Also, typical protocol is .2g/lb bw peri-workout. I'd do half 30 min before and half immediately after. Then 7-14g between meals as an amino spike. Runners need protein to prevent breakdown in a similar way that strength athletes ned protein to build muscle.
If you're a fan of Endurox, mix BCAAs with it...or just go buy dextrose as it's about $1-2lb and is the best sugar peri-workout (quickly absorbed, higher insulin spike).

Has Dobson improved lately? He doesn't seem to be a good walking, living endorsement of the product.
Gold Standard is I believe 5.5g BCAA per 24g serving. The problem with consuming protein powders if you're worried about BCAAs is that the proteins fight for absorption. If you're concerned with BCAAs then just buy BCAAs. Yes, you still need adequate amounts of all amino acids, so you need adequate amounts of protein and a protein powder such as ON is just a convenient way to get it. I view it as a meal replacement. BCAAs on the other hand should be viewed as a "nutritional training tool". You consume BCAAs to improve muscular recovery. I'd also throw in dextrose, maltodextrin, waxy maize, and any vitamin/mineral supplement in this toolbox.

I know very little about it and I find it very sketchy that the article is A. trying to sell a product and B. doesn't describe the mechanisms by which the proposed changes occur.

Search the site, he quotes research all the time.
He does tend to expand the truth a bit.
I think the jury is still out on his Biosignature Modulation and his supplement "program". He's 1. Selling his own brand of supps and 2. Selling his own brand of certifications including BioSig. But..like anything if it didn't show results people wouldn't use it...at least PERCIEVED results. He walks the walk and talks the talk but has worked with elite athletes from track and field to the NFL.
