That's also like drinking over a gallon of water, plus the banana weight. Then factor in all the fiber and calories how much it would spike your insulin... very very unlikely that you do that on a consistent basis. 100% likely that there are many better diets out there.

Eating fruit does NOT cause a sharp rise in blood sugar. But eating refined carbs like candy, donuts, & pop does do this. Even eating a baked potatoe will cause a spike much bigger than a banana meal.

The relevant terms here are "glycemic index" and, more importantly, "glycemic load". Look them up.

Fruit results in a gradual rise in blood sugar, with no crash, providing sustained energy, which is good for endurance athletes.

I did a 50-miler in April, and I fueled before it and during it entirely on dates & bananas. It was my best performance in an ultra so far. I had consistent energy; no crash.

I'll be doing a 100-miler in about 3 weeks, fueled with fruit. I'll let you know how it goes.

One banana is 23% of your daily requirement for potassium. So 30 would be 690% of your potassium. That's got to be dangerous

Excess potassium is excreted in your urine. For healthy people, this is very efficient and not dangerous. Most Americans have the opposite problem, too much sodium, and not enough potassium.

If it's not a big deal, then prove it. First, The hotdog eaters go all out for 12 minutes, and they train hard for that event. Try eating 2 hotdogs in a bun in one minute. Try eating 15 in an hour and you'll realize how irrelevant competitive eating is to your claim.

I think 30 bananas could be done, but I don't believe that you whimsically eat a banana every 2-3 minutes for an hour while you're paying attention to something else and suddenly realize you've eaten 30. According to the International Banana Association, the average banana weighs 126 grams, so 20 bananas is 5.5 lb and 30 is 8.33 lb.

I agree, I don't doubt that there is a human that can physically eat 30 bananas if forced to. But for him to say that he routinely eats 20-30 at a time is just pure crap. This guy is such a ridiculous liar. Wejo should make him prove that he eats 30 bananas or ban him for life.

Saying that you typically eat 20-30 bananas at a time is like saying you average 200 mpw, all at sub 5:00 pace.

One cup of mashed up Banana has 23% of your daily dose of Potassium, one medium banana has half that 12%. Its still a ton of Potassium but to be honest a lot of other foods have more potassium then banana's, potato's for example. I'm not saying to eat 20 of them in a sitting either, I'm just pointing it out.

Atwell, earlier you said you are a bit heavy, what do you weigh?

Also, how do you prefer to eat your bananas? I only eat 1 at a time but I like them when the skins is starting to turn brown. A lot of people consider them rotten at this point but they have a lot of flavor. We hang them so there is no weight on them and the fruit will not bruise and rot until the skins are black. Good stuff.

Next trip to the grocery store I'm going to see how many I can do in one setting.

I do usually read the paper or watch TV while I eat. And I think I do eat one banana every few minutes for an hour or so. I thought this was fairly normal behavior. I thought most runners liked to eat a lot. This thread makes me think that I am more unusual than what I thought.

Even if I took the trouble to tape myself and stick it on youtube, that still won't convince the skeptics. They'll think it was something I did once just to show off. I am saying that I feel comfortable eating this way, and do it daily (not always with bananas, but with something).

Honestly, if I eat only bananas for 3 or 4 days in a row, I get rather tired of them, and want to switch to some other fruit.

I typically crap twice per day, and they are fairly big movements; much bigger than what I had as a meat-eater. But they are regular, no problems with constipation. They are also soft, and come out easily. So although they are large, I don't spend much time on the toilet. I used to get constipated sometimes when eating the standard American diet. Also, on the raw food diet, my crap doesn't stink like it used to. I think this is because it moves though faster, and so it doesn't start rotting in my intestine the way that meat does.

Before switching to raw food, I weighed more, often over 150 lb.

I like my bananas ripe, with spots, and when the top comes off easily. That is when they are the sweetest. Brown skin is probably okay, I don't normally wait until the skin turns black...at that point I think they might be going alcoholic.

That is the ripening/rotting process: starch -> sugar -> alcohol.

I read that water filled foods are more filling than dry foods pound for pound...

You seriously thought that its normal for runners to sit down after a run and eat one single food contiuously for an hour until they have consumed well over 5 pounds of the food?

If someone said after an 8 mile training run they sat down with a gallon bucket of chocolate ice cream and then an hour later it was gone you wouldnt find this odd?

what are your eating habits like the rest of the day considering you take in 2000+ calories in just fruit in one sitting? Im really intrigued.
