At Osaka Janeth's tactics were very focused towards blasting the first 400 and leaving everyone trailing in her wake and falling off the track (Mutola) in the final 100.

At Hengelo Pamela's splits were much more even. While her third 200 looked phenomenal, that maybe because the others faded and she didn't. I don't think she slowed that much in the final 200 either.

I can't wait until I see the Pamela v Janeth showdown / dynamic.

To put Ellen Van Langen amongst the 'Eastern Bloc' cheats is wholly unfair. She was one the of the purest, most sincere and exceptionally talented athletes to ever grace an Olympic final. My overwhelming feeling on watching her win in Barcelona was that 'good had conquered evil' so to speak. Holland has never been considered an Eastern Bloc country, and I'd put my house on the fact that she was clean

she went from a 1'57.57 in '90 ( 4th in euro champs ) to 1'55.5 in '92

certainly enough of an improvement to warrant suspicion

she ran last 200m in 29.44 with possible fractional weakening at the end

that is very impressive to run sub-30 in last 200 of a fast 800, not many having done so in the past - lotta splits ( mutola's ) for 1'55s tend to be 55/60, 56/59 with last 200 nearly always over-30s

anyhows 29.44 averaged 4 times is 1'57.76 which indicates fantastic strength as even her presumed slowest 200 is <1'58 pace

it just gives me gut feeling that even in a slow race she shoud be able to put in a devastating kick in last 200

she keeps this form up for peking, she'll be hard to beat in either a fast race or a slow, tactical one
