I'm a pretty big fan of Sullivan too. I actually remember when he was 14 y.o. and came on the running scene. People (probably including myself) were saying that he would burn out very quickly, given the amazing times he was running at that age. Kind of ironic that he outlasted all of us (so much for our great wisdom).

Lagat has run 3:33 or faster for 10 years in a row from 1998-2007. He hasn't run as long as Sullivan internationally, so Sullivan gets more praise.
Lagat still has run 3:30 or faster for eight years in a row, from 1999-2006. El Guerrouj ran under 3:30 9 years in a row from 1996-2004, 3:33 or faster all 11 years of his international career. The most impressive statistic of all is that El Guerrouj had the fastest 1500 in the world every year from 1996-2003.
No one is talking bad about Lomong because he just set a pb and it is May. Only a total idiot would say bye bye Olympics in mid-May. You are exposing your ignorance. No one knows if he will make the team but you certainly cannot say with ANY amount of confidence that he won't. What do you say about Webb? Lukezic? Myers? Brown? So who makes the team? No one?

Nice to see Lopez Lomong get the Oly Trials "A" Standard.
He got tripped up at the Cardinal Qualifier ( another great solid performance by Sully in that race at Stanford by the way ) and from what I heard hadn't really gotten into doing any speedwork up to that time.

I thought Lomong was pretty tough still running 3:36 after falling. Like the announcers said, he looked pretty banged up.

As he should be. Looks like the guy is getting used to winning. That is all I expect now in mile races where I see his name on the heat sheet. it has been a while for me, but as a former big blue myself i want to congradulate all of the former wolverines in the race, that and with an outdoor big ten champs today it was a great day
sully is clean and has always been clean-thats one reason its more impressive. he also had MAJOR achilles surgery in 1996 - he has no bursa, he didn't even take some of the meds the doctor gave him, because they werent allowed under iaaf doping rules.

What happened to Robison? Did he and Symmonds get tangled up?
didnt have a chance to watch the race. Will Flotrack have it?
Robison rabbitted the first 1100 meters wearing the singlet of his local running store. He stepped off the track at the same time as Symmonds, but they didn't get tangled up together.
Does this surprise anyone? With the possible exception of ELG, Lagat is the best 1500 meter the world has ever seen. Actually, with a 3:26 pr he is also the fastest.
Both Webb and Lagat have similar speed, but Lagat is so much more consistent. Lagat never has those strange Webb slumps that appear every once in awhile. You almost believe Lagat is always in sub 3:35 condition. He will get the gold in China. As for Webb he is all over the place. He could get gold or finish 8th - you never know with him.

Boaz has a pr of 335.20, and 735i 3k. He def has that kind of speed. Now if he can only put together a decent 5k. He's run 1319 3 times, but should be able to run 1310, give or take a second. Maybe this will be his year.
