Well...last year Blake Russell ran 32:31 at Stanford. Flanagan just beat her by 1:28 over 8k cross country. No way Flanagan doesn't run under 31 flat.

i am not saying ethiopia will use this as their womens 10k trials, just that they have before.
No doug but I'm also interested in the start list...it would help Shalane alittle more to have to actually race instead of just a time trial!
alberto salazar said in an article kara goucher would run the 10k at stanford, so there is one confirmed good matchup. flanagan vs goucher.
VIPAM.....You are the best Thread Starter!....Glad you are posting again....I havent seen you around!
she will break the American 10k record.
Thanks drunkobserver
My prediction is 30:43.7 if weather and pacing is on point! Here's a listing of the field, a few days ago E. Dibaba 10000m Olympic silver medalist- Tirunesh Dibaba's sister- was listed but not on currently list.

It could be a great race between Flanagan, Kim Smith, and Kipyego. Goucher said in an interview at the Oregon Relays that she is just running for the Olympic A since she doesn't have it, so if they go faster than that I am guessing she will let them go.
The big question is Rupp going to paste Goucher like he did last year....... oh, wait that was the other Goucher.
Kim Smith 30:55
Shalane Flanagan 31:00

i predidt flananagan 30.35 with goucher in 2nd in 30.39 both under the anerican record.
actually there were 3 ethiopian girls entered a couple of days ago, as mentioned e. dibaba, werknesh kidane after almost 3 years maternity leave, and the young aheza kiros, but all 3 are no longer entered.
goucher is bronze winner from last year - i just can't imagine she'll let runners who she beat last year ( or outranked ) run away from her - professional pride woudn't allow it !
I think Kim Smith, Flanagan, and Goucher will all run sub 30:45. Someone will try to break with couple laps left, but who?
Race within the race is for the Olympic A standard of 31:40.00. Alicia Shay and Co. will be working hard, hopefully working together. Of course a "homecoming" race for Alicia will be nice, for her and the crowd. I think this is the race fans are looking forward to.
ventolin,
Does your magic work for Paula Radcliffe?
I think Shalane and Kim are both capable of running sub 30:50; however, both the weather and pacing must be good. That will have a greater impact on rather the race is won in 30:40 or 31:40!
I believe she should run around 31:15 since some of the runners will run a tactical race
30:26
31:13
