what does that have to do with a 1:55 by one of the best 400h athletes in the world? he's also 5'8", and petite, silly goose, so moving up to an 8 wouldn't be so different.

So what? He ran 1:55. It was only a workout and only wanted to run fast enough to win. I seriously doubt anyone posting on this board could beat him in an 800.
Just imagine what Jeremy Wariner would run if he ran the 800 one time

It very interesting to see the comments from people who may or may not have a idea of trainning cycles and how you prepare for an olympic year. Some of the comments were out of pocket, especialy if you dont know what he was attemping to accomplish in his race. Yes hes a small guy, but has big heart, and his stature should have no bearing on what he was doing or what he ran. So did it ever cross your minds that he may have been just focusing on the first 400,500 or 600m of the 800. These are the things you do in races and early competitions to make sure your on schedule for what your final goal is, so people please get an understanding before you make critisisims and not know the facts.

really? I can think of maybe 2 sub-10 guys EVER to break 46 for 400m. there may be one or two more, but I think to say they do it 'routinely' is strtching the imagonation a fair bit

A few years back Fred Sharpe while at Auburn, an NCAA medallist in the 400mH (48.+), ran 1:47.+ indoors for the 800 (he also medalled in that event at the NCAA Indoors)
that may well be the case, but where is fred sharpe's world championship gold medal?
if bershawn runs 47.1 and wins in beijing, i'm sure he won't give a s**t about his 1:55 800 indoors in january. he is a 400 hurdler, what he does for an 800 doesn't matter apart from how it affects his 400h

Jackson's been 1:16 for the 600 I think, so a 1:55 isn;t that great, but a nice hard effort for sure....
anything slower than 1:50 for a 400m specialist of his talent slows him down. I think its dangerous for sprinters to run 800 slower than what they should, simply because they can lose that muscle memory. and running 600 in 1:16, 1:55 is a slow time. for someone who runs 45's and has a distance build, 56-56 should be an easy workout. 1:55 isn't even jogging, its just junk miles.

i got a 600 meter tour of the unidome once from mr. woody, i've never been in more pain.
He is running long because he will go 600 indoors at Millrose.
Anyone know Batman's best 800m time? I seem to recall him running at least 1 or 2 each indoor season.
Can't find it offhand but Johnny Gray ran 1:07 x yards on the tiny track. Joey Woody won a few years ago with a 1:12ish.

Too me it seems that 1:55 is a tad bit on the slow side, and for someone as good as Bershawn, he probably has better things to do, like lift weights. Not really sure what a 1:55 is doing for him, its a bit like Alan Webb running a 10k in 27:34. We all saw how that turned out.
