I posted this on a different thread, but since 14 flat wanted to discredit my experience based upon my poorly written post(s) I thought I would post this here too. It's a bit long, but it's about the benefits of vaporizers vs. using a flame to smoke. Even smoking once in a while shouldn't have much of an impact on the lungs.
Yes, smoking anything can produce negative effects upon your health. Though, it depends how often you use, how much you use, and if you're not running/doing aerobic work to continue to help strengthen your lungs. Over longer periods of using you can develop the smokers cough, even from solely smoking weed, and believe me, it's a nasty cough to have. It burns the back of the throat and sipping water doesn't alleviate the pain.
If you are a daily smoker or a regular smoker and you do care about running or not damaging your lungs, it would be wise to look into purchasing a vaporizer. The high is different and may take a day or 2 to get used to and about a week or so to fully understand how to operate, but there are a lot more benefits associated with it.
First of all, the negative effects associated with smoking are eliminated. I haven't had a smokers cough since I switched to a vaporizer close to 5 years ago, nor have I had difficulty running. After getting out shape and smoking multiple times a day, everyday, for about 6 months, I could still run a mile, but it hurt. It felt like I was breathing through a straw. Since I've switched to a vaporizer, I've felt the ability for oxygen to flow freely into my lungs, often times lungs which had been recently absorbing the marijuana mist that a vaporizer produces.
Among other benefits are an elimination of any sort of crash. After a while of smoking, I'd feel high for 20-30 minutes then drop all of a sudden and feel shot (drowsy/cloudy). With the vaporizer, you generally get a more stimulating high (though it depends on the marijuana type/genetics) and a more clear high, all of which has little to no comedown! I'd actually describe it as a 'motivating high', but a high will always be subjective. The comedown, if there is any, is more of a gradual fade back to normal.
Additionally, vaporizers can be used inside (usually a must since they need to be plugged in, though there are car adapters and outside outlets). Depending on the weed, it can still leave a smell, but having a fan to circulate the air will allow the mist dissipate and the room will be back to smelling like normal shortly after, allowing for much better discretion.
I'm practically writing an essay at this point, so if you made it this far thanks for reading, but to finish this off here's a few other vapo benefits:
-Need LESS marijuana than you would with smoking, big benefit actually. Reduces total consumption and amount needed, thus saving you money.
-No need for lighters, calloused thumbs, accidental burns, or no potential for burn holes
-MUCH better taste. The first few hits taste exactly like weed smells. As the bud turns brown, it tastes different, but overall much better than smoking. Smoke tastes gross to me now.
-Stronger high. This is all subjective, but if I ever do smoke, I get higher for about a minute after the hit, but then I feel practically sober. Plus, the amount of pot consumed in one smoking hit could pack a bowl, or more depending on the size of hit, in a vaporizer.
If anyone has any questions about vaporizers or how they work please feel free to ask. I've essentially used a vaporizer multiple times daily for the past 58 months, a few days off here and there. I'm not trying to brag, I'm sure many of you would think that's something that I should feel ashamed about, but I'm neither ashamed nor proud. I just enjoy its mental and phsyical stimulation, even the medicinal benefits like a reduction in nausea. I just wanted to share my experience in the hopes that if someone does want to use marijuana, they are aware they can use it with a safer althernative.
Well hope everyones Christmas was merry!
