Is SUPERBAD as good as everyone says?

it was a very good and hilarious movie. i got a bit bored with the parts involving the cops, but other than that it was good. let me put it this way... this is the only movie ive ever been to that had people applauding at the end. it is very funny but maybe 20 minutes too long.

True, definitely missed a couple lines in there. Only other time I've experienced that recently is with Knocked Up.

Basically, it was just full of all the immature teenage penis jokes Apatow had been wanting to flood in his other movies but didn't fit at all.

Also, amazing how young they made Seth look. The actor (Jonah Hill? I think) is like 25. The rest of them were all high school aged I think, which was pretty cool.

My buddies and I always measure a movie's potential by it's ETT. As in "Estimated Time to Titties". If the fun bags show up before the opening credits are over we know we have a winner!

WTF? I don't think I've ever talked to a person that didn't think American Pie was hilarious. You must be like my friend's wife who doesn't think Seinfeld is funny. Different brands of humor for different folks, I guess.

I can't wait to see Superbad though. Knocked Up was hilarious. 40 Year Old Virgin and Wedding Crashers were good, but not great.

It's funny how some movies stand the test of time and others don't. Something About Mary was probably the most I've heard people laughing in a movie theatre, but on video it's only decent.

In contrast, I thought Road Trip was ok in the theatres, but can laugh my ass off over and over again on DVD.

To get a feel for my sense of humor, some of my favorites include Caddyshack, Dumb and Dumber, South Park, and Road Trip. There are a lot of other, funny movies out there, but those probably top the list.

Interesting. I love Seinfeld and South Park, like Dumb and Dumber, dislike Road Trip, and am pretty indifferent about Caddyshack.

I don't dislike American Pie per se, I laugh and generally find it funny at times, but I didn't come away having watched it thinking "Wow, I like this movie".

Anyway, why the hell is anybody still reading this thread. Go watch Superbad.

Hilarious movie, but definitely not a date flick. Apparently a few of the parts offended my girlfriend, go see it with some of your [straight] buddies...

If you're 18 and have no sense of humor -- Superbad is the movie for you. The movie sucked. Period. The parts that were funny were really really funny. Other than that its just dialogue which is terribly dirty. And i dont mind cursing, but there needs to be a point for it, and there wasn't. If you find bad words funny all by themselves, then this movie is awesome.

I like funny situations, mannerisms, persons. This movie has some funny situations etc, which is why its okay.
