Phill, I tend to think our bodies just aren't designed to run huge mileage for years on end. I know you also tended to push the pace in many of those long runs. At 33 maybe you just have to change tack.
Come back to Oz for 6 weeks. Hole up somewhere on the coast. Live simply, eat simply, train simply. Run on the beach, in the dunes, on the golf course. Swim in the freezing cold bay. Hit the weights and build your worn body up rather than wear it down. Have fun with it.
If you do feel better and start thinking about a serious crack at making the OG maybe you have to modify your approach. Maybe more along the Durden, Moore type approach rather than day after day of heavy pounding.
Anyway good luck with things. We sure could do with a few guys in sub 2.16 shape.
