One day this guy will run 12;57 ... but his younger teammates will beat him. He is a great talent and a tough competitor .. his problem was the mental side of the sport.
Its tough to see talent not reaching potential.

Here is the problem. wrote:
The people that see nothing wrong with what Alberto (Nike) does to its athletes are the same fools that think that Alberto's heart condition had nothing to do with drugs.
Goucher's stree fracture has nothing to do with drugs, but it is tough to feel sorry for any athlete that has made the decision to be a part of that mess.
By the way, isn't the World Championships, and the entire track season the reason that he skipped World Cross? HAHAHAHAHA
Gaining pleasure from somebody else's misfortune? You are seriously setting yourself up for some bad karma dude.
While Goucher had potential to run 12:57 physiologically he has always been injury prone. At his age, 12:57 is NOT in the cards. He has seen his last PR and will have to really work hard to even make the Olympic team at this point.
This is a very unfortunate thing and I feel for the guy. I would start looking for a desk job, seems like the running career is on the way out.
Does anybody actually have any proof that he is injured?

No kidding. Why comment until the truth is confirmed? Maybe it's true, but it seems premature to comment at this point. Is this source the same guy who said that Salazar had died?
yeah, all you guys are going apeshit, but where is the proof. i've been on letsrun to long to trust everything that everyone posts. we need a link here or something or i'm going to expect to see goucher in osaka next month
It is very unlikely that he is injured with a stress fracture. In the Runner's World Brief Chat or whatever with Goucher, he said that he took the week after USATF's completely off (no running or anything). I doubt he has fractured himself since then.

Yeah, he'd have to have been injured before that meet. Think about it--it's basically impossible to develop a stress fracture that soon after a one week layoff IF a person was healthy before that layoff.
Is Sal still coaching Chock or is she completely done? She's been seen running with the group.

I quite like Goucher, particularly as he is a Colorado native who stayed in state to compete collegiately, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree with this sentiment. Goucher may have had a close-to-13:00 5k in him last year in the perfect race, but I believe his best days are behind him. He wil not break 13:00, and I'd be surprised to see him ever run sub-13:10. I hope I'm wrong, cuz he's a good dude.

Really/ Salazar did that?
Her career was ruined when she made the infinitely wise decision to attend U. of Richmond. Even considering that school should have signalled that she wasn't going to be serious about competing at the next level.
I actually admire Salazar for trying to take over a ruined project like Chock.
Choke and her private coach in high school ruined Chock before she even thought of attending U. of Richmond. And on that note U. of Richmond was the only college stupid enough to offer an out-of-control anorexic a scholarship, but they wised up real fast and told her to put on weight or she couldn't compete so she left. Chock left and good ole boy Salazar picked her up thinking he had another youth star to add to his trophies not realizing or caring that she was a mental and physical wreck and he was just adding to her problems.
and we are still waiting to see some proof.....
I bet three cups of coffee that Hudson had something to do with it

My source tells me he ran nationals on a broken foot; that way since early April.

If this is true, then he is one of the baddest motherf***ers of all time. Between that and the 2000 Oly trials...Mottram could take a few pointers from him on what real balls are.
I think your source is rather incorrect

I remember back after the 04 track season people were saying the same thing. Not saying he's gonna have a monster year next year, but the guy has to be one of the toughest sob's ever.
troll alert. goucher is fine. idiot.

Not that hard to run on a metetarsal stress fracture. Not very smart but the pain goes away in a few minutes after you start running. I ran a 5 mile race on a stress fracture one week after a marathon. Doesn't make me better than anyone else, just more stupid.
