I realize the technique of your team delivering the sprinter to the front just in time for the finish but I think McEwan used the whole Peleton to get to the front today. Nicely done.

Who gives a damn who wins stage 1...people upset that the race was ruined for them? These arent races. All the stages combined is one race.
hmmm, maybe i missed something. Was there no winner today? So what was it that McEwen won if it wasn't a race?
McEwen kills it, who can beat him if he wins under those circumstances? A contrast with Mark Cavendish, who suffered the same fall but panicked and couldn't stop yelling at his team. McEwen is a pro- the Tour will probably be won by the GC guy who can stay as cool as him.
Cavendish is a 22 year old in his first tour. He's fast, but no comparison to a guy with three green jerseys.
Fun fact; at last year's Tour Down Under or Jacob's Creek stage race, Robbie won the opening criterium with a sprint (albeit "wind aided") of 79 km/h, or 49 mph. Unlike a Petacchi or Cipollini, who require a long leadout to take advantage of their higher top-end speed, McEwen has the fastest, most stunning acceleration in the pro peloton.
Oi Oi Oi!

Wow, some asinine posts here.
McEwen is one of the craftiest, most fearless men in the peloton--he's got a nose for the right lines and the timing to make them work. It's uncanny. Plus, he doesn't need the train that Cipo needed--it's usually just McEwen stealing wheels. He's pretty exciting to watch.
He and Lance are two totally different types of racers, with two totally different focuses.
But I'll bet McEwen could STILL spank every LetsRun poster up any kind of mountain on a bike.
AGREED. what always surprises me about mcewen is that despite all the other teams getting leadouts, he still manages to come off THEIR trains and win the stage, like yesterday. that wasnt a tire width, it was like a bike length.

um, if people didnt give a damn, then why would they celebrate stage wins? obviously you dont know much about the tour de france
I love it when people with no clue try to comment about cycling.
A win is a win, even if it's just a stage win. The Green Jersey has come down to one race many times. The more points Robbie can get now the better he'll be in the end.
