Not bad
I know many people on this board are guilty of over-hyping Webb any time he does something special only to have him fail to meet the some time unrealistic expectations. But.
1.45.8 at this point in the season (his first 800 I think) would certainly indicate his 15 time is due for revision.
I really think he will be very close to 3.30 by the end of the year.
Not bad at all. Especially considering he went down 500 meters in, clutching his achilles. If he stayed upright, I wager he would have been victorious in this effort.
Yeah, he didn't crash and burn. He's been consistent lately. Only one bad race out of his last 5.
Could we be seeing a new Alan Webb?
this is his second 800....i think in April he ran 147 at Mt. Sac. this isn't bad at all. he has never shown any particular talent over 800. but this is very solid. his previous pr was 146.08.
don't forget he probably hasn't been in Europe for too long either.

Yeah. He'll break 3:30 and he'll break 1:45 if he runs another 800 or two.

Definitely worth a 1:42 when you account for the jetlag.
Shaves 0.29 off a three year old PR. Probably not as fast as he imagined he would be three years ago, but hard to complain about a new PR. Bodes well for Paris.

Any time you can PR in your first race off the plane, it's a good thing.
does anyone know if he'll be running any more 800's this season?
In '82, Scott ran the old MR at USAs, then ran 3:48, 1:45.0 and 3:47.69. We'll see how Webb's next two races go.
Anyone know what AW has planned as far as the next two races?
I managed to ask Alan Webb a few minutes ago if he thought he could medal in the world champ. "I will!"
wow, 1:45 800m all the way up to 27:34 10000m. Thats pretty sick range if you ask me.

I was right on my prediction that Webb would run 1:45 for 800m, so I'm sticking with 3:30 high like I stated on another thread. Watch as my predictions come through.

American men regularly now run sub 13 5k and sun 27 10k but marathons stuck at 2:07. What gives?
