A striking comparison - Simmons has done wonders with good hard working types who are not the "blue-chippers" when he starts with them. As a for instance - Ritz had much better PRs, but Cabada ran faster in his debut marathon, and finished his last 2K only slower than Geb and Barangovskyy at Fukuoka who ran ~2:07.
True enough. But who is Simmons coaching now? And where? From what I've seen, he seems to be a young coach on the rise. Maybe he should start a professional club somewhere?
bizuneh, young, and maybe still cabada but his college team is dismantled
Who is Young?
Lets see him develop some middle of the road runners and not talented runners who have not made it elsewhere.

Look at his teams, they are full of middle of the pack runners who have broken through. Just look at what he did at Minot State.

Both Tighes. Never heard of them then they both broke 14 at Penn. One of them winning in a time of 13:49.
Daniel K this year pr was 14:40 and then he ran 29:teens at Penn.
Steve Gabat, 10 flat in high school to top 10 at NAIA nationals.
These are just a few names that I do know.
