So are there any big recruits any of the MIAC schools are landing this year for Cross Country?

Rumor has it Matt Yak (4:15.20, 9:18.90, 10th @ state cc) is going to St. Olaf, but he may be doing soccer instead of cc.

SJU gets 5 in the top ten? I think that is unlikely, also Fermoyle is an All American in CC. I still think he's better than Erichsen in the fall.

I think that with the way Erichsen performed on the track this spring and his transition from shorter to longer distances races such as the 5k and steeple he will be right with or ahead of Fermoyle. I think some young guns such as Greeno or Gladitsch could be right up there with him and also Steinbrecher.

I heard that Gleason is out until fall 2008, is that true?

What teams are going to nationals out of the central region? I think Nebraska and Wartburg could have some troubles and Carleton could make it in. Also we might only get four teams in instead of five.

I think they need to race and then we'll find out.

But really, I think they should cut cross country out of the Minnesota Insignificant Athletes Conference and give the money to football.

Anybody seen any results for any summer races? Anything like Greeno last year in Duluth? Who's gonna make the big jump this fall?

I'm thinking that it's about time Gustavus moves up. True they lose Zupan (who sucked left titty in cross last year but was a stud in track), but that regions race showed a lot. They aren't top-3 material, but I'd put them 5th (after SJU, Carleton, Hamline and St. Olaf).

it seemed like there were a bunch of guys who had big track seasons (indoor and/or outdoor) that i had never heard of before and/or had never made any noise in cross... think some of these guys could step up and be a wild card

The SJU and MAC guys you listed were all freshmen. The UST and Bethel guys were mainly sophomores. They should be more of a threat this year with some experience.

VanBruggen was second in the Lakes Run 8k in 26:35.

I know that a bunch of the guys just do the road races for tempo runs or whatever, and don't really take them seriously.
