sorry to tell you but running 3:41 for 1500 meters is not, and never will be, a sub 4 minute mile. that said, i hope he gets in a legit mile soon.

good D3 is an oxymoron
How is the Pomona coach? Anyone?
If you're looking at going to school for Engineering, Computer Science, or Science, take a look at RIT. We have had some pretty solid performers over the last couple of years, our XC team went to nationals this past season, and we have some good up-and-coming runners. Our program is pretty small, usually 15-20 guys, but we have a great team tradition, and we're getting better by the year.
Pomona Pitzer just had a guy run 3:41 yesterday.
SUNY Geneseo has to be taken into consideration. Academically, SUNY Geneseo is one of the top DIII libral arts college in the nation. Right now, Geneseo has Ross Hunkovic running the 1500 in 3:49 and 1:52 in the 800. Most of the 800 runners are running at least 1:55, most of them breaking 4 minutes in the 1500.

That's funny. It isn't even the best liberal arts college in New York let alone the nation. Union and Hamilton are both better schools.
Nebraska Wesleyan has a great coach in Ted Bulling who puts together great teams year after year in Cross and Track. Great academics as well at this school, high acceptance into professional schools.
Geneseo is an excellent school and very well respected in NY but the academic criteria for acceptance is no where near that of the top 50 liberal arts schools (as listed in US NEWS and WORLD REPORT rankings). So to say it is one of the best schools in the country is a gross exaggeration. That said, they have produced plenty of outstanding runners and it's a good degree to have in NYS.
Colorado College.
[quote I also want a good school academically. [/quote]
Well look no further because the Lets Run message boards are where all your dreams become reality!
If you're actually smart and would never waste your time at some UW-wherever school or NC, you've gotta be thinking:
Williams, Amherst, UChicago, WashU, Tufts, NYU
Then again, if you can be a sub 4 miler, you probably shouldn't be looking D3 and could go to a D1 for free.
Maus is doing a good job, but you also have to deal with head coach Brian Cole, widely (by athletes and coaches) considered an ass. I don't think you'll get many arguments about that.
GENESEO, N.Y.—The State University of New York at Geneseo is one of the nation's best value undergraduate institutions, according to The Princeton Review, which included the college for the first time in its book "America's Best Value Colleges."
"We are pleased to be recognized as one of America's 'Best Value Colleges' by the Princeton Review," said Christopher C. Dahl, president of SUNY Geneseo. "This national attention validates what many of our students and parents already know: Geneseo is an outstanding public liberal arts college that offers an education for leadership and success in life at an affordable price to both in-state and out-of-state students. As evidenced by this year's record number of applications, more and more high-achieving students are making Geneseo their college of choice."
The book, which contains a three-page profile of Geneseo, is one of nearly 200 Princeton Review books published by Random House in a line that includes the annual "The Best 361 Colleges." Most recently, Geneseo was named a Best Northeastern College in the education service company's 2007 edition of that book, published in August 2006.
These are taken from the Princton Review stating the Geneseo is indeed on of the nation's best libral arts schools in the nation, both academically and the getting the most for your money, so it is a nationally recognized institution.
Geneseo's running history also speaks for itself, running in the last four NCAA cross country championships with numerous All-Americans in cross country and track, with recent graduate Ted Turner who finished in the xc ncaa's top 5 two years in a row with multiple AA's in the 5k and 10k on the track. Geneseo is a great place to go for academics and running.
Not Sure where you're looking, but I suggest Haverford, Allegheny, or Elizabethtown. All very different schools, but PA, and good programs
Based on your inability to string together coherent sentences and spell the name of publication that makes these claims of excellence, I have to disagree with the Princeton Review. There are a lot of mediocre schools on that list. 5 SUNY schools are on that list. There is a big range of caliber on that list.Good running program. You'd have a good shot at winning a title at Geneseo. In truth it is a mediocre school, academically.

Geneseo sucks right now. They can't even win their conference.
.... but they are cool guys and mulcahy is a stud ;)
I agree w/ Nebr. Wesleyan. I know they have won NCAA and Drake Relays in DMR. Also have run some very good 4 x 800's (7:30-7:33) @ Drake. I have seen 1:49 and 1:50 from their top 800 guys. I also remember seeing them on the podium as a team at NCAA XC several times.
I know a guy who graduated from there and he always talks about the good academics. He himself is now a Physical Therapist.
how many national titles?
Three D3 Distance programs that I've always been very impressed with and have first hand knowledge of are:
Mount Union- Alliance, Ohio
Nebraska Wesleyan -Lincoln, Nebraska
Allegheny- Meadville, PA
The coaches there are extremely good recruiters and developers of talent.
There are a slew of other programs that do a very nice job I'm sure.
