Rupp flocast interview

I think old Galen sounds just terrific...so articulate and clean.

People can get angry if they want but there's no denying the evidence of mild retardation. It's amusingly ironic how wangsta' speech and retard speech are so similar. I was leaning towards wangsta' but further analysis definitely points to a lack of mental development.

While I'm at it... listen to what James Carney has to say around 26 seconds into his interview. Seems like a pretty interesting strategy. Apparently it worked.

Some of you posters talked about how he seems to have a speech impediment or weird slang and what not, but isn't he originally from Boston? He actually sounds like he has the dialect that most Bostoners have. I know he hasn't grown up in Boston his whole life, but maybe his parents are from Boston so being around them maybe has had an influence on his speech. I like his goofiness because it's real and I guess I can be kind of goofy too, so I can relate. I'd deffinately say he's better at talking in an interview on the spot than Webb is.

Personally i thought the content of what he said was great. To be interviewed for public viewing straight after the best race of your career would be tough, tough to contain the excitement and adrenaline that he would be experiencing.

So just lay off the kid and appreciate his ability and what he brings to our sport.

He seems like a great, smart, honest, and very happy 20 year old KID in front of a video camera who will eventually improve his enunciation. Everybody chill out. If we put you on camera for the world to see, we could pick your appearance apart as well. But, the world is much better off by being kind and respectul to each other.

He doesn't talk like a wigger AT ALL, except POSSIBLY the fact that he says "ya know" a lot, but that can be chalked up to nervousness.

I just watched the rest of the interview, and I must say I think he handled the interview very well. He answered the questions very well, he's enthusiastic, some humor in there... come on guys, lay off. And I don't know many "wiggers" to be honest, but he sure as hell doesn't sound like any non-prep school black guy I know.

You guys would have loved Prefontaine interviews than... definitely goofy and not the brightest, but NO ONE CARED. It was the spirit, a kid that competed with his ALL, leaving everything out on the track. Pretty much can GUARANTEE you that Rupp has higher SAT/ACT/Grades than Prefontaine did.

Wow. Whats funny is when i watched this video i was suprised that he talked like that. But it was also relief. If he isnt like you suburban pussy white boys, he might have a shot at becoming a good runner. You need a little hood in you to be a champ.

He's such a babyface he looks 10. He ran like a monster when he closed the gap. There were some good runners that this little boy man handled. i like what he said about just running your own race , "don't worry anout winning". Webbster needs some of this type of thinking.
