Matt Withrow his senior year of HS was a BA. We completed the triple crown (XC, 1m, 2m) in impressive fashion. He toyed with the field at the state meet and dismantled his opponents running massive negative splits. Here is some video of the 1600m:

Does anyone remember when Webb ran his state or maybe regional meet his Sr Year in HS? He ran like 47 400? 1:49 800 and then a slow mile at like 4:12 but didnt he run like a 1:54 back 1/2 of the mile?
I just remember reading something on dyestate back then and it was something crazy and he was playing with the field.

It was Districs. Times (I believe) were 4:06 (back in 1:54), 49.2, 1:49. To be fair, yes he was playing with the field in the mile, but the 5th place time was 4:17 - the District was legit and better than most states (The top 5 were: Webb 4:06, Smith 4:15, Gaeta 4:16(?), Maline 4:17, Thompson 4:17). Pearl Watts had a write up on the meet, but I can't find it.

Unbelievable! What happened to him? I did some clocking.
Stember's splits were: 61.8 206.5 3:05.3 4:03.69. No matter how many times I clocked it I got sub 4:04. Then for heck of it I wanted to see his split from his push started at 600 to go...at the 1000M he took off and ran 56.04 for that 400 from the 1000m to the 1400m mark. I got his split in that full last kick of 600 at 1:26.25.
I also got his third lap of 58.8 and his last lap of 58.3 and I was conservative on hitting the stop button! These aren't exact but very very close! Would have loved to see someone like A.J. pushing him all the way in the last 600...who knows what they would have done. His last 100 looked to me like he was NOT destroyed at all!
