Digger - Thank you very much.
I'm not sure my 150s will last till then. I have two new pairs left and one pair being resoled currently. Looks like I may try the T4 out to keep me going until April.
This has been a very helpful thread - thanks to all.

Don't blame the flats.... blame your street shoes.

I've trained in flats for 27 years (and have worn street shoes since I have been able to walk) and have never had PF. Blame something else.
there are a few new, new balance raceing comps coming out either this spring or winter, i will check on the date next time im at work and report back. there are updates of current model and then a new one that is going to be the RC 10xx, its either 1005 ro 1050, but its one thousand something, it looks like no other flat i have ever seen from new balance, should be interesting. at the same time the 900 series has been slightly redesigned for the 902 which comes out in either january or febuary, and this is all of a racing flat with the exception of the sku still says its a regular running shoe
Don't try to tell me what to do, you have NO idea how funny that sounds. I will blame the flats as long as I so choose.
And you have no idea how ignorant you sound. Go ahead, blame flats for your PF. But without even knowing you, I can guarantee that there has been a point in your running history where you have run in flats and did not have PF, thereby undermining your credibility when blaming flats as the cause of your PF.

i love the T4's do not get me wrong, they are my racing flat, and will be for a while, but brooks does not just make running shoes. The brooks name only goes on running shoes however they are owned and operated by russell athletics which makes a whole host of things.
Brooks is not and never was operated by Russell Athletic. Russell Corp bought Brooks in 2005 but has left it as an independent subsidiary. Fruit of the Loom, which recently bought Russell Corp. is also leaving Brooks as an independent subsidiary.
Brooks just makes running shoes and apparel. Nothing else.
I stand by my previous post. So there.
Well it's been my experience, too, that minscule flats can cause issues. I don't see how attacking someone proves a point?
I used to wear NIKE Air Pegasus until they radically altered the shoes in the early 90's. I developed bad achilles tendonitis when I switched to flats.
Today, at age 50, I cannot even wear Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars as they make my feet hurt. Granted it may be age, but I ran for nearly a decade with no problems until I switched to flats, as NIKE had wrecked my favorite shoes.
I wish I had never worn flats.

The 902 isn't really a race flat. More of a light trainer. From I'd heard, NB is discontinuing several of its current flats in favor of the models they're bringing in from their Japan development group in the spring. I saw the RC1005 also. Don't know if that one is going to happen but its an LDS1005 upper on an RC150 sole. I thought they'd told me that was just something they were playing around with. If not that, maybe there's another one I missed. I think one of the Japan flats was a 10XX something number, too.

Your plantar is naturally meant to be stretched to a degree. Your street shoes make your plantar tight. Therefore, it's your street shoes that are the problem. Wear more flexible street shoes.
i've recently re-acquired a case of PF. Normally i wear either the Burn III, the DS Racers or the Puma Belus III. The Belus are way too firm and ended up making my plantar hurt so much i couldn't run yesterday(i tried in the Burn and the pain was too much).
i always find that my running is best when i'm in DS Racers, or wearing Birkenstocks around the house. My only concern with the T4's is the lack of stability. But they seem like they might help PF. thoughts?
All I can say I that I have been running exclusively in the T4s for a couple of weeks now and they continue to help. They are like magic slippers, it's amazing how such a light shoe can feel so comfortable, even on the road.
They don't last long -- at less than 200 miles mine are about shot. Will soon have holes in the toe.
bsyou probably trained in tanks prior to switching to flat and that is what gave you pf

i had some issues with the st2 also, but then cut out the midfoot truss, and voila, problem solved. also made the ride of the shoe much smoother.
Pantman,
I'm a bit late to this thread, but I did have a couple pair of the RC 150s so I have opinions about some shoes with similar feel.
Asics makes a shoe called the Hyper Paw. I've only seen it for sale at zappos.com. I think you can get zappos to deliver to the UK. If not, I'd be happy to order a pair and send them off to you. They run small, I'd say order a full size bigger than what you normally wear.
Another shoe that has a similar feel to me is a spikeless racer from Saucony called the Kilkenny. I got a couple of pairs very cheaply from Eastbay. Same comments about ordering as for the Hyper Paw. I've seen the Kilkenny in more places and even in some shops.
I've also been wearing an Asics model that's only available in Japan called the Sortie Magic. I got one pair as a freebie and whn it got old I ordered another pair through a Japanese website. The catch is, you have to be able to read Japanese or know someone who does (which I do.) If either applies to you and you want to have a go, I'll send you the link.
HRE,
Fantastic! Just the kinda feedback I was after. I'll look into those two.
Re. the Japanese pair, there are loads of suitable shoes in Japan, but I am a US13 - I believe they don't go that large over there.
As of ten minutes ago, Zappos has the hyper Paws in size 10 on down and size 14. The size 14 is probably your fit based on HRE's comments and the description of the shoe's sizing on the Zappo's site.
