That's what THEY want you to think. Kind of obvious, isn't it?
Didn't you see my docudrama on TV on this subject?

Like someone else mentioned, I would drive it. Or move it in several trips? Or get a few buddies to go with you and have each of them take a chunk for you?
If your money ever does make it to a bank, make a point of not depositing more than $6000/ week. Cash deposits of over $10,000 require Secret Service paperwork to be filled out, and as an added measure of security many banks lower this threshold. I forget the exact timeframe of the regulations, but I believe a week would be sufficient to avoid further questions. Money orders that large would be foolish to purchase with cash, as that would certainly raise suspiscions (spelling?) and people running cash businesses such as stores that sell money orders are typically aware of the SS regulations.
It's kind of funny that you post here looking for tips.
if inside usa, what is the problem?
if international only have to declare if over 10K, so travel with a friend
what is the problem with declaring that you have $ anyway?
if you are doing something wrong, stop doing it, the $ is not worth it, donate it to charity anonymously and you will live a better life
maybe you should be like peter gibbons from office space and look up "money laundering" in a dictionary.

It is obvious so it stops most before they start. I bet you buy that bit every couple of years when they say they are changing currency to the color blue to flush out the drug money.....

technically, it was you and Samir.
alright so here is the deal, anything over 10 grand you can not take through airports without filling out all sorts of forms, and yes that involves taxation. money transfers have fee's and taxes as well. so basically strappting it to your thighs rip cage etc are your best bet...no pun intended....for more info read "bringin down the house" the MIT boys win millions and strap 100g's to their bodies each.
When I brought in a bunch of Gold Krugerands from South Africa as well as diamonds and a variety of cash from various countries, I just spread it around. I put the KR's in my shoes. I lifted up the insoles and taped them down then put the insoles back. I packed the shoes in my bag. It was exciting!!

postal money orders can *only* be purchased with cash. they cost about $1 for up to $700 or $900 or something. so you'd need quite a few.
In the book "Bringing Down the House" about the MIT kids that rocked Vegas for over 6 million they had one of their team members tape 20,000 or so to their body to transport the cash while flying. Just wear baggy sweatpants and tape it to your calves.

IIRC, it was significantly more cash than that. Either way, this technique should work fine for the original poster.
