Why waste all of that time "training" when there are pharmacological and gentic shortcuts? Instead of exposing yourselves to injury through heavy workouts, why not go for the most efficient route to speed? It's called cost-benefit analysis. By the way, All of the top athletes sleep in O2 depleted, low pressure, nitrogen enriched "altitude tents" to stimulate red blood cell volume increases, I guess because it doesn't involve needles... Is that the logic?
I have experimented on myself as have several members of my staff. I currently have a VO2 max of 88, which was created through a capillary dilation hormone ZTR-777 that is found in marine mammals. Without triaing I have a VO2 comperable to Joseba Belokis or Lance Armstrongs and it's higher than Haile Gs. Generally western Mediterranean populations have a high "trainability" for develpoing VO2 max quickly with training(Spanish cyclists, Moroccan runners). The highest are found in Himalayas and Andes. A great deal of your running "potential" is hereditary(duh!), but now you can just go out and improve yourself. It's like LASIK eye surgury, but without any negative effects. Personal enhancement made easy.
