LA has 7 classes: C, B, 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A
2005 Winning times for Boys class C was 18:36 for 3 miles. Course difficulty shouldn't be a factor considering all the other classes (except 1A) had winning times 3 minutes faster. Girls class C winner was 20:22, also for 3 miles. Are there any states crowning champions slower than this?
I would have to agree Oregon is the easiest state to be an xc state championship, I mean the fact that Chris Holis (the worst state xc champion in the history of high school xc nationaly) won a title says it right there

what about Washington they are pretty weak many years
After posting, I rembered that the state was hit by 2 devastating hurricanes last year, so 2005 could just be an exceptionally bad year. So I searched some prior results: 2004 boys class C winning time was 17:49 (about 1-1.5 minutes slower than the other classes), 2002 was 18:18 (1-2 minutes slower than the other classes). I couldn't find 2003 results for all classes.
I'd definitely try for the smallest Oregon school classification. While teaching in eastern Oregon a few years back, I noticed a girl in our district made it to the state track meet with a 6:23 1500 meters. Our school record for the girl's 3000 was 13 something, and the school had been around for about 30 years.
They have a couple kids this year from 2A in Louisiana running (14:49) right now. I don't think so dude.
Small State but very good runners. They are also first in the nation for Hammer throwers.

Well, not MT, since they have Flathead HS (Kalispell) and Coach Paul Jorgenson, who often fields boys teams that have 4 runners under 4.20 for the 1600. And is where Zoe Nelson comes from as well...
IL state meet is 3 miles; this year 41 boys ran under 15 min for the course. So, not IL, even with 2 or 3 classes. Though I hate the idea of 3 classes.

Since it is an election day-after, I must point out that blue states are generally faster and deeper than red states. Certainly there are some infrequent exceptions, but most of the nations best distance runners come from blue states----this is despite the fact that blue states generally have worse weather. Again, there are a few exceptions to this, but it is nonetheless true.
Don't call me a troll until you check the facts.

Wyoming has four classes? That's absurd. They must do it like some football schools do the nine man and have three man CC. I hate the class system. Each state should have one class. Give the small schools a chance by giving them two-four of their own sections/regions to qualify from. That way small schools don't get tainted victories and when they pull off the upset it would really be special.
I agree blue states do usually have much better at xc than red states. ie, New York, IL, WA, OR,
WA probably being the best of all xc states; I know that is debatable,TX usually has some good teams (red) and IL could argue as one of the better xc states,
Which state is best for high school xc and where does it fall politically. I could argue WA namely Spokane very well.

About half the states in the country have girls run 2.5 miles. You don't get out much do you.

No boys - Arkansas, Delaware, Hawaii
No girls - Arkansas, Delaware, Idaho, Louisiana, West Virginia
It's tough to determine which state is easiest without knowing such things as the population of the state, the number of classifications, the winning times of the state champions in typical years, etc.
That said, I would list my top-10 easiest as:
1) Wyoming - easiest
2) Idaho
3) Alaska
4) Louisiana
5) Arkansas
6) Mississippi
7) South Carolina
8) North Carolina
9) Montana
10) Hawaii
This helps explain why the South gets its ass kicked at Footlocker every year, too. Especially the South girls.
