Everyone needs to mellow a little bit. Yes they do taste good and you do get a good burst of energy from them. They probably are no different than any other form of supplements. But I suppose that Powerbars are no good also because a chocolate company makes them. (Nestle)
I little food for thought.
where is the research to support how quickly they enter the blood stream? would that not be the key to their effectiveness?

QUIZ: how many of you fackers (i'm looking at you, Jim) work for this jelly bean company?
Don't work for JellyBelly (if I did, I'd weigh about 250 lbs) but I will admit I get them gratis. But that applies to gels and such as well, so I feel I'm pretty unbiased in my assessment.

Where do you keep these things?
I can see it now! A bunch of fatty 3:30 marathoners popping candy out on the course. Do you keep them in your fanny pack? Do you clip a 'bean' holster to your shorts?
It is like a buffet out there for you people! Gels, gu, candy, soda.
You are embarrassing.
LOL ROFLMAO
They are also available at some supermarkets - such as Wegmans in the northeast

These Beans are really freaking good, they taste great, now i never took gu or anything like that so this was the first thing i tried and i love them. they taste like a flavor of gaterade and def helped me i am hooked!
Simple sugar rush. The amount of "beans" ingested has no performance enhancing benefit, and if it has no performance enhancing benefit, than why take the supplement?
Most of you will gain weight while running a marathon with everything you ingest during the course of your 3-hour celebration.
What about Clif Bloks? I tried some at the TCM expo and it seems like if you want a slow, constant sort of energy, these would be ideal for just sort of plugging into your cheek. But, if like the guy at the expo told me, you have to drink a ton of water with them, then how are they any better/different than a gel?
Any feedback on Clif Blocks? Anyone?

I tried them at Twin Cities, partly on the theory that a little steady supply of sugar in the last third of the marathon would keep me mentally in the game. Well, they don't exactly dissolve in your mouth - more like kind of sit there like a lump, waiting for you to chew. Also, yeah, you need some water. I don't know about you but my mouth tends to get more than a little dry after a couple hours of running. On the other hand, I did have good physical and mental energy late in the race, probably my best ever out of eight marathons.
I know this thread is quite old, also one of the funniest I have seen. In all seriousness where do you carry the sports beans (or other gummies) during a race? Also how are sports bean much better than normal jelly bellys (and carry some salt with you)?
they are good , i don't like gels, they make my hands all sticky , i hate that . the beans just roll in your mouth and delicious.
