Why stop at 350mpw? I think you should probably aim for 400-500 mpw in order to truly acheive your potential for the marathon. Don't puss out, you'll always kick yourself wondering, "Could I have run 2:37 if I had only done that extra 150 mpw?"

I know your arguement is "well people once said that the sub-4 mile was impossible"....
someday, maybe someday, people will realize there are very realistic limits to the human body. Granted sub4 wasn't necessarily a smart limit. But running 350 mpw is dumb, by any means. yes people may be capable of running a week at that pace, but seriously dude, people don't say it's bad for your health just to set a limit for you to try to conquer. They say it because it's extremely unhealthy. There's a reason why you wouldn't advise a 5 year old to run a marathon, and there's a reason why people aren't advised to run 350mpw. Do something else with that time.
Well, my run did not go so well today. I logged 52 miles and then I bled from my asshole.
You will go down, most likely.
Check out
Mark Watson once ran 250 miles (for one week only) in Hawaii "just to see what it was like"...
The problem with this plan is that you are risking injury which could end up being something pretty severe.
I think you need to work out which is most important: hitting 350 miles per week, or reducing your marathon PR. Running 350 mpw MAY help reduce it, but it also may not, so obviously is not the best strategy if the marathon PR is the ultimate goal. However, if it's just something you want to try for now, here's my advice:
Take more than a week off after XC is over. Sort out any niggling aches or pains, get a full health MOT, see a physio maybe, take care of your health so everything is optimal at the start.
Are you going to be working while you're doing this, or just running and nothing else?
Build up slowly from 120 miles per week.
Your main barriers are going to be health, injuries and boredom.
Good luck.

If you need inspiration, read Ted Corbitt's book. He did several 300+ mile "hell" weeks in preparation for doing ultras. He felt that he needed to do that in his buildup to insure that he was ready for specific races. His crash training...3 back to back days of 75 miles and then the balance of the week was his regular 15 to 30 miles per day.
I was able to stop the bleeding from my asshole at 8:30 a.m. I then proceeded to lace up the shoes with the hopes of logging an easy 30 miler. At mile 15 my asshole began to bleed again, but I pushed through to 25 miles before I called it a day. Tomorrow I will run with a cork in my ass and go for 60 miles.
Dude get a life.
You wanna be crazy? Top this:
ERIE, Pa. -- A woman used her 4-week-old baby as a weapon in a domestic dispute, swinging the infant through the air and striking her boyfriend with the child, authorities said.
"The baby was swung at the individual that she was arguing with," Erie 4th Ward District Judge Tom Robie said.
The baby was critically injured in the attack early Sunday, said District Attorney Bradley Foulk.
"Never, never, never. I can never remember anything like this," Foulk told the Erie Times-News.
Chytoria Graham, 27, of Erie, was charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and simple assault. She was held Monday in the Erie County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.
The infant, whose name and gender were not released, was taken to a hospital in Pittsburgh. Authorities did not identify the hospital, and the baby's condition Monday was not released.
Four other children were removed from the home by child welfare officials, Foulk said. The oldest of those children was 8 years old.
There was no immediate indication whether the man Graham is accused of attacking was the baby's father.
Authorities removed four other children from Graham's home and placed them with the Erie County Office of Children and Youth, Foulk said.

Try to train kind of like shorter did maybe with a bith less quality. Don't totally neglect any quality or fast stuff or you'll become like little buddhia singh. 10-12 minute miles will not help you run a fast marathon. Eat plenty. Have one easier day each week. Good luck.
Singh runs that slow because he is 4 years old, not because he neglected fast training.
What makes you think anybody on this board knows anything about running 350 miles per week? My guess is that none of them have ever done it, none will ever do it, and none have ever even considered doing it.

Dude, I'm laughing so hard I'm crying right now!!!! Hilarious!
Everyone thanks for the posts. I have registered this account due to there being TWO posts on this thread saying that the person is me.
The only post I ever made on this forum was the initial thread starter.
I don't like it how some of you are taking this as a joke, poking fun at me... Aren't we all runners here?
But once again thanks to for the support and help.
Truth be told I am out of eligibility for running right now. So i could start this venture any time. I am currently just assistant coaching and running with my team for fun.
Likewise I have put in over 13 weeks above 100 miles per week this past year...with 6 over those at or averaging 120 miles per week.
Last year I ran the majority of my year over 100 miles per week. So I am no newcomer to this high mileage concept.
I am thinking of doing some really long runs to offset the heavy mileage and stress on my body. Dont get me wrong it will be lots of stress...but one really long run as what Lindgren did is what I am thinking about.
Just the talk of this is getting me pumped up. My goal right now as a short term is to run at least a 2:25 or better next october at my local cities marathon.
I think it can be done whether or not the mileage will hurt me...I am already in really good shape i think about at 2:35 right now AT LEAST. So...
My teams cross season will be over in a number of weeks...Should I satart right away? Or what should I do. I have a feeling that I kind of want to start on the journey.
I cannot stand not running if this makes sense. I really never take time off or anything...and right now I feel good about where I am in my running..Hence my bold move and decision/thought process to try out something absurd as this.
Yes...I even know myself that this is an absurd move. But at the same time it seems like a challenge..journey..and perhaps is can bring me to new great horizons.
I am actually thinking about this plan...
Once I get started... I will start from 50 miles per week. I KNOW THAT I NEED TO BUILD SLOW AND STEADY for my body to adapt.
EVERY FIFTH WEEK I DROP SOME MILEAGE.... and Every time I hit a new mileage I havent ever been at I stay there for 2 weeks adjusting to it.
WEEK 1. 50
WEEK 2. 75
WEEK 3. 100
WEEK 4. 100
WEEK 5. 85
WEEK 6. 125
WEEK 7. 125
WEEK 8. 140
WEEK 9. 140
WEEK 10.95
WEEK 11.160
WEEK 12. 160
WEEK 13. 180
WEEK 14. 180
week 15. 120
This is what it will be like. I should be at a mileage of 250-350 sometime next spring...
What do you think?
... if you stop there.
