McVeigh and any others in NYC area:
What are some of your routes in Central Park? Besides all the loops which I know, are there any specific 'courses' you do/have done, esp. on the bridal path and on dirt trails?

If you do some local longer races for tune-up purposes, I'd suggest shooting for a sub-54:00 10-mile race, a sub 1:11:30 for half-mary, sub 32:15 for 10K. That should put you in the sub-2:30 marathon ballpark.
only "route": i have is only good ins ummer whne days are long enough...run West on 59th all the way to the Hudson river, turn right and take the bike path to 125th, go under the underpass and take first right upo the ramp to Riverside Dr, take Riverside to 114th (??) -- whatver gets you thru the Columbia quad, and then zigzag into north end of park at 110th& CPW. less monotonous.
