get sunglasses at Nashbar. I have the Nashbar NoFrame glasses, there's nothing to them and they only cost 10 bucks
I do. It doesn't really matter. I only wear them all the time in hot weather *workouts and races* to keep the bugs out of my eyes.
Manufacturer doesn't matter.
I was just thinking about asking if anyone was using prescription sunglasses. What brand/style did you order and how much did it set you back if you don't mind me asking?
all black guys are required to wear dark glasses, especially indoors, afraid of sun burn.
Foakley's for $10 at a Flea Market, if you break em, go get another pair.
I almost always run in glasses (myopia) unless it's raining. I have prescription sunglasses but I usually use my regular glasses which are photogray (turn dark in the sun). They're not as dark as regular shades but they work OK. My two general comments are: 1) the need for some sort of eyeglass leash or retainer so the suckers don't slip off on a hot, sweaty day, and 2) using real glass versus plastic. I've tried a few different kinds of plastic lenses over the years, including one very fancy polarized pair that I use for kayaking and XC skiing (glare!) which are supposed to have the same refractive index as glass, but they all suck. I always manage to see chromatic abberations with them, particularly at the edges. Drives me crazy. The fancy pair are better but not as good as glass. They are shatter-proof though, so tha
I've been running in cheapies, but I just dropped $60 on some Tifosis. Like them quite well so far. Clear lens and bluish replacement lenses, as well as the dark lens they came with. Good fit, three lenses, not eye-popping expensive.
I run in the Oakley Half Jackets and love them. Lightweight, interchangeable lenses for the cloudy days, etc. I got a good deal on mine, but after using them for a couple of years now, I would definately recommend them to anyone, especially at the $105 or so price tag.
Oakleys. Been running in them since 1989 or so.
I run and do track workouts oftne in sunglasses. It's just so much more relaxing than squinting all the time. In the winter there's usually no point in wearing them though.
Only Ray Ban aviators for me.
I run for shippensburg University and we all wear Oakleys the same way Steve Spence did, its kind of a team thing to show up and the whole distance team is wearing them.
Go Ship!
uhm...you may be able to hold your hand up in the air for miles upon miles...but I can't. I just wear a hat.
I wear them to keep the flies out of my eyes.
The reason certain brand names are more costly is because the lenses are finely crafted--no strain to your eyes. Cheap sunglasses use cheap plastics without perfection, which can have extremely detrimental effects on your vision.
Doctors are now stating that eye deterioration can be caused by too much sun (a sun-burn) to the eyes. Wearing glasses, or at least a hat, would be a good idea.
i used to make fun of people that ran with sunglasses. then i found out i have retinitis pigmentosa and i have to wear them to run. irony abound
you guys have to be the biggest tools in athletics. unbelievable.
Tipper O'Brien wears sunglasses to run, train, and race in. He actually wears them 24 hours a Day...
