The thread title was initially incorrect. It said the NBA waived Ivey. We have corrected the title. Also the OP failed to provide a link explaining why Ivey, the 5th pick in the 2022 draft and the son of the Notre Dame women's basketball coach, was waived. Here is a link:
The second amendment guarantees his right to bear arms at all games.
The 2nd Amendment does not apply on private property. It also can be restricted on government property. I know you were joking, but...exact words, Greg. (The dude from "The Brady Bunch," not the other one...in case that wasn't clear.)
As I said earlier (deleted post), why are people forced to like or agree with something such as homosexuality? Can't people be able to like, be neutral and/or dislike something in a free society? Woke mind virus has feeling obsessed people looking to get triggered for self validation--because they're unaccomplished, at every corner.

Never heard of him, I don't watch the nba. It sucks! His comments, that I saw, aren't so bad. Pride month is as ridiculous as it is unrighteous, some of the greatest Americans have one day, maybe. Shame
Boyfriend or roster only for you, big fella!!! Shame
Free speech applies to what kind of speech the government can & cannot regulate. The Chicago Bulls are a private organization -- not the government. People should argue however they want on what they think of a private organization's decision, but people often get wrong what free speech applies to. Letsrun, for example, could ban posters based on harmful conduct they don't like. It's incorrect to think they're powerless to moderate because of free speech.

It must be really hard for you, being oppressed so much.
Just did a tad bit of research... he has a negative VORP (Value Over Replacement Player) for his career and has hardly played the past couple seasons due to serious injuries and poor performance.
He apparently recently put out a series of videos where he bashes, among other things, the NBA's celebration of Pride Month and the Catholic Church, calling it a "false religion".
So a mediocre, injury-plagued player who was already struggling to stay in the NBA decided to add "locker room cancer" and "PR problem" to his list of issues... bye-bye!
Yep.
I agree with the Bulls letting him go (Behavior detrimental to the team). This is a slippery slope to navigate. JI has the right to voice his views and opinions without prejudice, the issue is that these views and opinions are not necessarily those of the Chicago Bulls, his employer. Him bringing these views and opinions into the locker room (work place), combined with sub par performance on the court was his undoing. I'm sure the Bull's management has discussed this with him, "keep you personal agenda out of the work place, and or at least be respectful to others so as not to infringe upon their views". I do however share the opinion of why the NBA and or other professional leagues promote somewhat controversial opinions and or views that could be offensive to some players, yet those players are not allowed to voice objection.
My fairytale god tells me to take EPO and testosterone. Why does WADA discriminate against me? Am I not allowed to follow my region without being persecuted?
Grown men believing in a man in the sky is more embarrassing than a middle schooler still believing in Santa Claus
That sounds like a PR nightmare waiting to happen. Jaden Ivey is too talented for them to just let go over something non-basketball related. Anyone have a link to the full report?
Remember when Fox News personality/dragon Laura Ingraham told LeBron to "just shut up and dribble" when LeBron was virtue-signaling? You won't hear her telling Jaden Ivey to "just shut up and dribble." Why? Because Ivey is virtue-signaling in an acceptable way!
This is all true, he was an average player but also it does seem like he has been abused when he was younger by a man I’m guessing, so kind of understand why he has gone down a rabbit hole, i could see that’s where your mind would go, looking for religion and being anti homosexuality there. It seems he is mentally unwell because of this. NBA will probably have to step in and give him support here as they should
He was averaging 17.6 points per game on 41% 3P FG at age 22 when he had his bad injury - definitely not average.
That was his best stretch of play in his career but he still had too many turnovers (3 TO to 4 AST) and was a negative on defense. Since his injury last year, the Pistons went to another level without him and he was pushed down the rotation and then traded.
If you put aside the personal issues, he would have plenty of other opportunities. But a small 2 guard who doesn't create offense for his teammates has never had less value. Cam Thomas was cut twice this season. Trae Young was traded for a couple role players (and he is an offensive engine at least). Empty calories scorers who are bad on defense are definitionally mediocre.

Without knowing, I figure that his fit on the team was not a good one. If the guy was liked and respected in the locker room, they would have taken the PR hit and worked with him. But a guy bringing up gay people and talking about his "faith" apropos of nothing is bizarre behavior. This was likely the final straw.
