I know almost nothing about her, and I don’t even like the women races as much, but how does this woman not have a thread? Am I missing something?
I am a huge fan of women’s t&f, and she bores me. Her running form is the female equivalent of Eric Holt, and she exudes very little personality. I am glad for her to have gotten silver yesterday for team US, but I have been watching her run for years now and can’t think of a single notable detail about her.
She has no fire or edge. She plays it safe and races smart every time. I guess I enjoy the gutsy red-liners even if they falter sometimes. I feel the same way about Nikki Hiltz. Not for the reasons often harped on about on this board, but because her racing bores me to death. She sits. She kicks. It works, but if you’ve seen her run one race you essentially have seen them all.
Gawd!!! Just from this thread you come off as an unlikeable, arrogant jerk.

I am okay with expressing an unpopular opinion. I was just being honest. You are the one who was unable to formulate a response without resorting to name calling.
She is for sure a solid track athlete. Absolutely. But she is not entertaining. Her interviews are tepid, and that makes her hard to remember. I listen to a lot of podcasts with interviews of t&f athletes. Hers are boring in my opinion. Finding someone or something boring and being honest about that does not make one a jerk. I am 100% sure there are plenty of people who would find me boring and I am okay with that.

I will add that one of the reasons I think this is that Ali Feller (Ali on the Run) is incredibly good at pulling the interesting personal details from the runners she interviews. Even her interview with Mackay was lackluster. It was one of the few Ali on the Run episodes I couldn’t finish.
Most versatile of the current crop. Remember, Mary Decker Slaney once held every American Record from the 800m to the 10000m ... simultaneously! That will never happen again.
Elle ST. PIERRE, United States - 1500 Metres Short Track, 5 Kilometres Road, 1500 Metres, 5000 Metres, 3000 Metres, 3000 Metres Short Track, Mile, 800 Metres
I just don't get how she runs 3:55 with PRs of only 8:30 and 1:57.8. I knew a couple of people who ran both sub 8:10 (in good but not perfect races) and 1:53-54 who struggled to run the 3:55 equivalent in the mile (4:13) when they ran it.
There are different ways to compare them. Combined time might not be the best way because that favors the 1500m runners. For example, Mu is at #17 with 1:54.97 - 4:03.44 = 5:58.41 despite being the American Record holder.
One way is using rank on the US List. If you look at it that way (800 rank first):
Slaney - #7 / #7 = 14
Wiley - #6 / #13 = 19
Mackay - #21 / #3 = 24
Hurta-Klecker - #3 / #27 = 30
Grace - #10 / #25 = 35
Hiltz - #34 / #2 = 36
Favor-Hamilton - #28 / #9 = 37
Mu - #1 / #43 = 44
Jacobs - #27 / #18 = 45
Martinez - #22 / #24 = 46
Houlihan would rank #22 despite being #1 at 1500m due to her #85 rank in the 800m.
Another way to compare is by using combined points for 800 and 1500 according to World Athletics points.
At what point, Rowbury had both the AR in the 1500 (3:56) and the 5K (14:38). This was pre super shoes to give perspective. She was a threat at any event. Julian also coached her, as well as Mackay now.

Factor in her 8:30/3000 & 14:45/5000 prs, you now have Emily & Shelby & ESP to choose from for the most versatile US female mid-d/distance runner ever.
Shelby is still has the 3:54/1500 AR, has 8:26/3000 & 14:23/5000 prs, but is a couple seconds slower in the 800 @ 1:59. And, has her first 10,000 track race coming up next week.
ESP has never broken 2-flat for the 800 but has the 8:20/3000 AR and a 14:34/5000.
ESP has an indoor gold & indoor silver in the 3000, Shelby an indoor silver in the 3000, Emily an indoor silver in the 3000 & indoor bronze in the 1500.
Big factor in Emily's favor is age. Only 27 -- turns 28 next month. Shelby just turned 33 last month while ESP just turned 31 last month.
All-in-all, pretty remarkable for a woman who graduated from SUNY/Binghamton in 2021 with a 4:17/1500 pr.
