Josh Kerr is probably my favourite mid-d runner to watch. He's fascinating in races, probably the best runner on the circuit for young athletes to study as he's not a one-trick pony. He has figured out ways to neutralise the very different strengths of Jakob and Hocker. Not all the time, no one can win every race, but enough to keep him among the podium spots when it matters and to take three golds.
This is leaving personalities aside. Like many, I don't like the way Kerr carries himself - I also don't like the way Jakob carries himself either, I prefer the decency of Wightman, Beamish, and Tim Cheruiyot.

Only on Letsrun an Olympic champion with an olympic record as well as a world champion and world indoor silver medallist would be called a bum. Most likely by a 25min 5k runner too.
Hocker’s track persona (I don’t know him personally) is unbearable. He’s a dork *and* a douche. I root for him to lose. He’s immensely talented. He has terrible tactics / race instincts. In no sense of the word is he a bum.

The racing makes it interesting. I could care less what they think and say about each other.
Just to point out he specifically chooses to miss the European Champs. So that’s why he has zero medals there.
As much as Kerr looks and talks like a massive dork - you’re correct. You’d have to be a mongoloid or a Hocker fan to believe that Kerr wouldn’t medal in every single European Championships. The guy takes racing seriously and shows up in shape to content every time
In his interview today he returned shade to Hocker while also paying full respect. Also, he congratulated Hocker fully after his Olympic win. He may have some banter at times, but overall he seems respectful.
Kerr and Hocker collided at least four times during the race. A lot of stupid elbowing and the time although fast, was not sensationally quick. Hocker slipped back a bitand got boxed in and should have run from the front with lap and half to go. Kerr then would have been pressed to pass him later rather than going sooner like he did.
One of the most impressive things about Kerr is we all know what moves he was going to make. We could have guessed he would lead with 600 to go and we could have guessed if he wasn't in the lead with 400m to go he would have lost but he's a master tactician and impressively he levels up when he needs to. Hocker may be the hero here but Kerr impressively reaches new heights when he needs to.
Speaking of Jakob, how devastated must he be? His most heated rival won the gold in his signature event, and poor Jakob was helpless to do anything about it. Ouch!
If Kerr didn’t lose to Tracks new Lance Armstrong at the ‘24 Olympics he would be the modern 1500m Goat right now. Thats a blackpill we just have to take as Americans.
