Either just cap it at the 5 minutes

I never go camping just for the sake of camping. I camp because I'm on an adventure that takes more than a day. My favorite example is hiking to the top of a mountain and camping overnight there so I can watch the sunset and the sunrise from the top of the mountain, and have hours and hours to explore the peaks rather than rushing up and down in one day.
In general, find something you're interested in in nature (front-country campsites that you drive to are not generally interesting at all imo) that takes more than 8 hours to do, and camp because you need to. That's how I fell in love with camping.
Alternatively, treat it as a discover-the-outdoors-bootcamp. If you get bored after 5 minutes, go dive into that. Make yourself be in that place for a day, and you'll probably discover something you didn't realize existed or hadn't taken the time to notice.
Report back. I'm interested to know how it goes!
